I’m still full. Full from Thanksgiving dinner. Full from the satisfaction of having family in. Full of appreciation for God’s gifts to me and my family, His gifts of friendship and faith, of the ability to experience joy and loving.

And as my mind turns outward, I’m full of thanksgiving for God’s blessings on pro-life efforts. We know He gives the gift of increase, the increase of lives saved unto future blessing, work and service.

Join me in praises to the Only One who truly satisfies with full godliness. The bottom line is: He’s the only one from which thanksgiving originates because of His bestowal of gifts.

We just gave thanks today for our gracious God’s provision for our family. Praise him! Praise Him especially for the 614 babies that are, or will be, celebrating and learning the traditions of their families this year and in all the years to come, because of the rescues from 40 Days for Life – and for their families who will rejoice over the years with them. Praise Him, Praise Him.

“Then Jesus said, ‘God’s kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. When the grain is fully formed, he reaps—harvest time!’”

Our Thanksgiving celebration is a celebration of harvest. As seen in this passage, God is the one who gives the growth to the grain. In pro-life work, harvesters are busy planting the seeds of God’s goodness and love, and for many of these sincere ones, through their service, bringing those in crisis situations to the Lord is the first priority. That is as good as it gets, regarding assistance to those in need. Hallelujah for service-horizontal and service-vertical.

The seeds are scattered across many lands of many types, cities and nations. God is busy bringing growth, even if humanly undetected. In prayer, praise Him today for growing grain to eat and hearts for Him.

2 Peter 3:9 (Pt. 2) Thanksgiving for Patience—and What God Does With It

      <dc:subject>Daily Scripture and Prayer</dc:subject>

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

I’m thankful for many things today, but especially for God’s patience with me regarding my time spent with him. Other things grabbed my attention this morning—my Bible has not yet been opened. I’m asking forgiveness for that, knowing that quiet times set the tone for any day, making me more sensitive to God’s leading regarding my thoughts and actions. After I write this, my Bible will be open and read.

But there is another aspect of God’s patience for which to be thankful, one that I do not really understand, but not without merit. I don’t know why, for the past many years, abortion has been allowed to continue in our nation and why it’s allowed that the incoming administration is set to continue it on and on. But we do know that because of abortion, many, many ministries have formed and are being carried out by faithful servants who would never have imagined such things, from helping abortion-devastated women to teaching fathers to be fathers. Is it possible that this is an additional way God is manifesting his character that would never have been evidenced without his patience in dealing with us regarding abortion? I don’t really know. It’s hard to fathom.

But, Praise the Lord today that he sees the big picture and pray that we will be in tune enough with Him to paint it just as he would have it. Pray we’ll be in tune when the day comes that every created life will be allowed to live.

2 Peter 3:9 Patience Needed: Patience Received

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

I didn’t do what I thought I would today. That is, I didn’t get my scripture-thought and prayer written this morning as I pictured myself doing. Instead, I got started on “errands” and couldn’t quit—or actually, I chose not to quit, thus putting this writing at the supper hour. How I thank God that He is patient, even exuding patience unto salvation.

In the battle for LIFE in the world, patience definitely enters in. But it would not seem out of God’s will to pray that the time to end the travesty of abortion will come soon. But, in His time, it will. Pray that we at that time are faithfully committing ourselves to that task and not doing other things instead, wherein I seem quite adept. Thank you Lord for your marvelous character and faithfulness.
