Atlanta 40 Days for Life: Feb 6-March 16, 2008; Join Dr. Alveda King Feb 4th!
On Feb 4th, 7-9pm, at Hope Presbyterian Church in Marietta, please join key note speaker, Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Pastoral Associate with Priests for Life, along with Rev. Martin Hawley, Senior Pastor of Hope Presbyterian, and Cindy O’Leary, Director of The HOPE Center, in an inspiring evening to get 40 Days for Life off to a power-filled start in Atlanta!
Praise and worship will be led by the Hodges Family, along with a special performance of “This Little Light of Mine” by Dr. Alveda King!
Theme:
Pro-life – THE civil rights struggle of our times & the absolute necessity of unity in this struggle: how our unity is both essential to 40 Days and is so powerfully deepened by it, empowering us to join our “little lights” together into a great light illuminating the dark shadow of death that is over our land! (Matt. 4:16, Matt. 5:16, Proverbs 24:11-12)

40 Days for Life is a powerful movement of the Holy Spirit that is sweeping across the nation! Hundreds of lives were saved during the last 40 Days, and we anticipate hundreds more being saved throughout the nation during this 40 Days! Additionally, many new people get involved in pro-life, strong new friendships are formed, Christian unity is deepened, clinic staff are converted, post-abortion sufferers start the process of healing, and many other miracles & blessings are experienced during 40 Days!
It consists of 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting for an end to abortion, prayerful vigil outside an abortion facility and community outreach. Even if all you are able to do at this time is one short prayer a day and maybe giving up one soda a day, please join in this united, interdenominational effort. You will be so blessed by it!! But please do prayerfully consider joining in our 24/7 peaceful, prayerful vigil in Marietta.
Our Lord said, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matt. 5:14-16) In Jesus, Isaiah’s prophesy was fulfilled: “the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” We are called to take His light into the land of the shadow of death, and I believe that Jesus has a special desire that during this 40 Days, His light be shone brightly upon Governors Ridge in Marietta; He is calling us to join our lights together into a great beacon outside that clinic. He wants to pour out graces of mercy, healing, hope and conversion upon all who see us - and see His love in our eyes, our smiles, our united prayer and the powerful witness of standing there even in the dark & cold hours. The later the hour, the colder it is, the more brightly His light shines forth through us. He died upon the cross for us in terrible agony - let us show our gratitude for His great love by suffering a little cold & fatigue on behalf of His children. Proverbs 24:11 says, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” By bringing the light of Jesus into the darkness surrounding this clinic, His Holy Spirit can reach the Moms driving past us and rescue those being led by satan to that place of spiritual, physical & emotional death, for nothing is impossible for God!
