        <p>With years of experience and a prolific knowledge of law, constitutional lawyer Michael Farris well knew what he was doing when he defined the liberty of parenthood as a &#8220;fundamental,&#8221; rather than an &#8220;absolute&#8221; freedom in his Parental Rights Amendment. This means simply that the right to parenthood in any way deemed worthy by the parents is wholly ensured. However, even our First and Second Amendment rights are not absolute. We cannot resort to human sacrifice or murder while simultaneously claiming our rights to religion and arms. An amendment would only decrease the cases in which parents are wrongly accused of crime&#8212;-instances in which they have their children unreasonably taken from them. Prosecutors would be required to offer valid, seriously considered evidence in order to even initiate their causes. Parentalrights.org states:</p>

&#8220;Because fundamental rights are so important to our freedom as Americans, the government must meet a heightened burden of proof in order to restrict those rights.&#8221;</p>

<p><br />
In other words, rather than claim child abuse merely because of a humble means of living or feeding a child &#8220;junkfood,&#8221; legitimate abuse would actually surface to attention. I do think it would be much more beneficial to consider the implications involved should we not support a Parental Rights Amendment. Let us consider child abuse here. Innumerable statistics link child abuse/aggression (physical, emotional) with abortion&#8212;-which in itself is the ultimate child abuse (<a href="http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/mar/07031301.html">http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/mar/07031301.html</a>). The UN Convention On the Rights Of the Child (the Parental Rights Amendment&#8217;s legal opposer) asserts the child&#8217;s &#8220;right&#8221; to abortion. It also prohibits parental knowledge/imposition in such a decision. If we are truly concerned for the well-being of the child, we will connect the dots, and support legislation which would stop the ultimate child abuse, and give children the right to live.</p>

<p> <br />
Cases have also disclosed child abuse in foster homes&#8212;-concerning not only the parents, but the biological children involved, as well. From a website:</p>

&#8220;Most foster parents want to do the best they can for the children in their care — like most parents, period. But the abusive minority is significant and probably growing. And abuse in foster care doesn&#8217;t just include abuse by foster parents; often it involves foster children abusing one another.&#8221;</p>

<p><br />
Obviously, the attempts of so-called &#8220;Child Defense&#8221; organizations are not exactly error-free. If anything, the family-disintegrations resultant have proven only to increase abuse incidents. No, government imposition is not the answer. My point: No solution is perfect (we are all born in sin); only a Parental Rights Amendment would in contrast protect parents rather than abuse them.</p>

<p><br />
Should good, loving parents who want the best for their children suffer for those who do not? In addition, who is to say that government officials have any more insight/capability in choosing replacement parents? Government officials, bureaucrats, and social workers are only people, too. I find it unfortunate that so many people deify these positions. God is to be the Standard of all behavior. He has commanded parents to the charge of their children (Proverbs 22:6). Any undue infringement upon this covenant would be an offense to another&#8217;s religious and natural rights. Just another thought: the majority of social workers are parents, too. Why would they have supreme interests in children (who are not even theirs) more at heart than the children&#8217;s own natural parents? As the Supreme Court in 1977 once ruled: &#8220;The liberty interest in family privacy has its source, and its contours are ordinarily to be sought, not in state law, but in intrinsic human rights, as they have been understood in &#8220;this Nation&#8217;s history and tradition.&#8221; While parenthood should be protected, it is not currently explicit in the Constitution. I would encourage all to consider this issue, and ensure the happiness of children by encouraging the unity of the family, and by protecting parents!</p>

        <p>At these events we show college students what the truth of abortion looks like and compare it to slavery and the Holocaust.&nbsp; I&#8217;m not here to argue these points right now, so if don&#8217;t bother me if you disagree with the premise of their displays, argue with <a href="http://www.abortionno.org/" title="them">them</a>.</p>

<p>My point is, I&#8217;ve heard the comments made by James Lee at almost every single college.&nbsp; Those comments aren&#8217;t just made by students, but also by adults, yes, liberal Democrats of course.&nbsp; Let&#8217;s go through his comments one at a time:</p>

<p>1) &#8220;parasitic human infants&#8221; - Yes, pro-abortion liberal Democrats acknowledge we are talking about human beings in the womb.&nbsp; Even Barack Obama, our wonderful pro-abortion president, acknowledged this fact when he said &#8220;I don&#8217;t want my daughters punished with a baby&#8221;, referring to the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy by them.&nbsp; Nice job Pres, that&#8217;s the way to stimulate good will, tell everyone how you want to kill your potentially unwanted grandchildren.<br />
2) &#8220;human sterilization and infertility&#8221; - Nothing new there, though liberal Democrats and most people in general want a perfect &#8220;no-baby&#8221; product.&nbsp; Remember when our wonderful government forcibly sterilized women a couple of hundred years ago?&nbsp; Oh, I&#8217;m sorry, that was <a href="http://hnn.us/articles/1551.html" title="as recently as the 1960s">as recently as the 1960s</a>!&nbsp; Not only has this crime against humanity been implemented on Americans just 50 years ago, a DEMOCRAT is now proposing to pay poor women $1,000 to have their fallopian tubes tied.&nbsp; What a wonderful humanitarian New Orleans State Rep. John LaBruzzo is.&nbsp; We need someone like him in every state to prevent the unwanted from breeding.&nbsp; Don&#8217;t we?&nbsp; <a href="http://www.breitbart.tv/new-orleans-lawmaker-proposes-to-sterilize-the-poor/" title="Click here to listen for yourself what this benevolent DEMOCRAT has to say">Click here to listen for yourself what this benevolent DEMOCRAT has to say</a>.<br />
3) &#8220;stopping human birth&#8221; - Liberal Democrats are opposed to &#8220;human birth&#8221;.&nbsp; It&#8217;s strange, but they are move in favor of saving the earth or a fish than they are humans.&nbsp; They want to stop all pollution, unless they have to drive a smaller car or stop flying their private jets.</p>

<p>A number of times I have asked people if it were okay to kill disabled toddlers or people who are incapable of taking care of themselves.&nbsp; Many pro-abortion people don&#8217;t see a problem with either of those.&nbsp; <a href="http://blogcritics.org/politics/article/kill-the-disabled-they-are-unworthy/" title="The Nazis killed over 70,000">The Nazis killed over 70,000</a> unwanted, disabled people, the <a href="http://www.lifenews.com/bio1848.html" title="British have discussed killing unwanted, disabled toddlers">British have discussed killing unwanted, disabled toddlers</a> and other countries have had this discussion as well.&nbsp; As we saw with Terri Schiavo, a living, breathing human can be killed in the public eye without a problem simply because her husband gave the permission for what many people refer to as a &#8220;public assassination&#8221;.&nbsp; </p>

<p>So, don&#8217;t look at James Lee &amp; the Discovery Channel incident as an isolated incident.&nbsp; Let&#8217;s just call it par for the course for pro-abortion / pro-death people, like DEMOCRATS.&nbsp; Yes, some Republicans can be just as bad.&nbsp; But overall they don&#8217;t compare to the outright pro-death Democrats.</p>

<p>James Lee was just shot for something he might describe as &#8220;late-term abortions&#8221; for his hostages.&nbsp; I can imagine his attorney using that as his defense.</p>

<p>UPDATE - James Jay Lee has been shot &amp; killed.&nbsp; A victim of Democrat madness if you ask me.</p>

<p>While I’m harping on a harp-theme, I’m considering the similarities among stringed instruments.&nbsp; The guitar is one of these, as are banjos, violins, and cellos.&nbsp; Even a piano is a stringed instrument (a struck-strings one), with strings hidden within the piano except when they are exposed on a grand piano with the top open.&nbsp; Inside pianos are little hammers with softening pieces of felt on them, and when a key is pushed down, these hammers strike strings and cause vibrations.&nbsp; The longer the string, the lower the note played.&nbsp; </p>

<p>We say we have heartstrings when speaking of love and such.&nbsp; Sometimes we say that God plays on our heartstrings.&nbsp; Could we say that He plays on the strings of a preborn baby’s tiny beating heart?&nbsp; Yes.&nbsp; Maybe our God strikes those tender strings with the softest of felts.&nbsp; He is saying to that new small person that He loves him, He loves her, and He loves Mommy and Daddy. Babies after they are born “play on the heart strings” of all their loved ones – and maybe even strangers passing by at the mall.&nbsp; We sort of just notice babies wherever they are.</p>

<p>Our Lord’s Holy Spirit is in the business of pulling on our heartstrings to convict us of the need of a Savior.&nbsp; It’s sometimes like creating a clarion tone when we give ourselves to Him.&nbsp; And, to be a bit light here, he sometimes has to “harp” at us for years, decades, before we finally give in and give ourselves over.&nbsp; Lord, today let us pray for families with a crisis pregnancy in the middle of them, that they will be in tune with Your will for this baby, which is, of course LIFE.&nbsp; We ask that your Spirit play ever longer and ever so sweetly to call these families to the right decision.&nbsp; Woo them, if you will, Lord, to You and to LIFE.</p>

<p>Topics:&nbsp; Pray for God to convict for LIFE wherever abortion is entering the scenario, that LIFE will be thought of a million million times more than death.<br />

        <p>This statement is in response to a <a href="http://www.prolifeunity.com/index.php/news_group/article/virginia_can_regulate_abortion_facilities/" title="press release">press release</a> we posted from Delegate Bob Marshall of Virginia.</p>

<p>The press release begins with:</p>

<blockquote><p>Virginia’s Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli issued an opinion that “the Commonwealth has the authority to promulgate regulations for facilities in which first trimester abortions are performed, as well as for providers of first trimester abortions, so long as the regulations adhere to constitutional limitations.”</p></blockquote>

<p>First of all, I have to say to any delegate or pro-life leader, do not call them abortion clinics.&nbsp; A clinic is a place of healing.&nbsp; Please call them abortion mills or facilities.&nbsp; Yes, I did change that word in the press release.</p>

<p>The release continues:</p>

<blockquote><p>“This is a victory for women and children across Virginia,” said Delegate Bob Marshall. It is my hope that the Governor will issue health regulations as soon as possible.”</p></blockquote>

<p>We can hardly call this a victory for women and &#8220;children&#8221;, since the unborn children still won&#8217;t make it out of the abortion mills.&nbsp; Also, the women going into these murder centers will still legally kill their children and regardless of the &#8220;regulations&#8221;, they will still come out of the building crying and destroyed.</p>

<p>Yes, we will agree that abortion facilities can and should be regulated just to make sure that the so-called &#8220;doctors&#8221; who are murdering babies have minimum standards in place.&nbsp; At the same time, a determined pursuit to do everything to regulate or fight for what might appear to be legislative &#8220;victories&#8221; can be counter-productive.</p>

<p>The release continues with:</p>

<blockquote><p>Delegate Marshall added, “The National Library of Medicine has hundreds and hundreds of peer review medical articles documenting the immediate dangers of first trimester legal abortion to women and subsequent pregnancies.”
</p></blockquote>

<p>Does that article in the library of medicine show that women who went to regulated facilities had a lesser chance of of these &#8220;immediate dangers?&#8221;&nbsp; The danger is not from the facility.&nbsp; During abortions, the baby will die almost every single time, many women will die and many women will be injured, regardless of the regulations.&nbsp; The problem isn&#8217;t the cleanliness of the facility, it is the process of women killing their children.</p>

<p>Finally,</p>

<p>1) By pursuing legislation that will not end abortion, thousands of man-hours and millions of dollars are thrown into something that will not likely save any lives.<br />
2) By pursuing this legislation, many other people, some of whom might do more to end abortion, are comforted or given a false sense of security that something is being done to save the unborn.<br />
3) The legislation requires policing, something that will not likely happen, allowing the status-quo to continue.</p>

<p>I appreciate the efforts of you folks in politics who are doing what you think can make a difference in the battle against abortion.&nbsp; The question you have to answer when pursuing legislation that won&#8217;t save the unborn is, can you put &#8220;and then you can kill the baby&#8221; at the end of the sentence?&nbsp; If the answer is yes, than don&#8217;t you think you should pursue efforts to actually end abortion?</p>

&nbsp; <em>Margaret Sanger&#8217;s Eugenic Legacy</em> by Angela Franks published in 2005 is one of the very best scholarly works on <em>The Control of Female Fertility</em>.&nbsp; Feminists who hold Margaret Sanger as the patroness saint of the modern woman will not be pleased with this exhaustive study of Sanger&#8217;s &#8220;Genuine commitment to the eugenic ideology.&#8221; p. 1.</p>

<p>This book benefits from the rigorous academic accountability of Franks&#8217; dissertation committee (on her non-dissertation topic) at Boston College.</p>

<p>The book is a must read for both the Planned Parenthood historian and the pro-life anti-abortionist.</p>

<p>On page 5 Franks begins with a quote from Margaret Sanger in 1955,
</p><blockquote><p>
I see no wider meaning of family planning than control&#8230;[T]here&#8230;are some families&#8230;where restriction should be an order for the betterment of the&#8230;race.</p></blockquote>

<p>Sanger was able to implement her ideal of Utopian control because she was, &#8220;A most capable administrator and detail-person&#8230;and held her own in a male-dominated world.&#8221; p. 5-6. </p><blockquote><p>[H]er organizational genius effectively [determined] the contours of the&#8230;population control [movement]. This ideology of Sanger&#8217;s I call &#8220;the ideology of control.&#8221; p. 8</p></blockquote>

<p>Franks frames the debate asking, &#8220;[C]an the <em>liberation </em>of women be built on the <em>control </em>of their bodies? Emphasis in original, p. 6. She continues,</p>

<blockquote><p>How could a feminist advocate forced sterilization? Why did Sanger participate so extensively in the eugenics movement?</p>

<p>Sanger of course assumed her views to be rational, evening claiming their scientific necessity.</p>

<p>[Sanger must be taken] seriously precisely because she has been so influential and, I believe, dangerous. p. 7.</p></blockquote>

<p>Sanger was-and her philosophy is- &#8220;dangerous&#8221; because &#8220;Sanger believed that&#8230;[controlling] reproduction&#8230;was a matter of power. [And] certain classes of people should not be parents.&#8221; p. 7. </p>

<p>Franks makes a compelling argument that Margaret Sanger is an ideologue,&nbsp; &#8220;I use the term &#8220;ideology&#8221; to indicate a worldview that obfuscates reality to such a degree that the person holding these beliefs is simply unable to recognize what is really the case.&#8221; p. 8-9.

not included in Frank&#8217;s work</strong></span>&nbsp; Franks presents a diplomatic analysis of research of Sanger&#8217;s life because there seems to be conflicting documentation on the motives of the founder of Planned Parenthood.&nbsp; But Franks has solved this contradiction in the Margaret Sanger historical record. </p>

<p>Franks notes, &#8220;Sanger [would be] saying one thing in public while confiding quite a different belief in private letters to her friends.&#8221; p.11.</p>

<p>Franks calls this &#8220;equivocation.&#8221; p. 11.&nbsp; Perhaps the more accurate description of Margaret Sanger and her Planned Parenthood offspring would be &#8220;duplicitous.&#8221; </p>

<p>Sanger &#8220;equates abortion with&#8230; birth control&#8221; p. 11.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Sanger &#8220;promoted a sexuality on the phallocentric model: pleasure without commitment.&#8221; p. 14.</p>

<p>&#8220;Race&#8221; for Sanger meant the &#8220;human race.&#8221; p. 15.</p>

<p>Franks depicts Sanger&#8217;s reasoning, &#8220;A large family is the sign of being unfit. In Sanger&#8217;s worldview, the poor are poor because the are unfit, and they have large families because they are unfit.&#8221; p. 16.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Sanger where she insisted,
</p><blockquote><p>[T]hat eugenics must target whole classes: I am frank to say that I do not see how it is possible to &#8216;sort out individual values within each class&#8217; and make an &#8216;individual selection&#8217; of those fit to reproduce, nor am I at all sure that such selection would be really eugenic. p. 17, footnoted, Margaret Sanger to Frederick Osborn, 12/29/39.</p></blockquote>

<p>&#8220;The organizations that Sanger founded echo her fundamental aim: &#8220;To contribute directly and effectively to the raising the quality of our people in every walk of life&#8230;&#8221;...&#8220;Quality, not Quantity.&#8221; p. 22</p>

<p>&#8220;Mabel Dodge, in a famous story, reminisced that Sanger was &#8220;the first person I ever knew who was openly an ardent propagandist for the joys of the flesh.&#8221;&#8221; p.23. footnoted, Quoted in Chesler, 96.</p>

<p>Sanger&#8217;s vision was-is-to &#8220;control female fertility instead of male desire.&#8221; p. 25</p>

<p>&#8220;Eugenics is advocated by members of a self-anointed elite&#8230;who know better than the rest and who ought to have the power to control society.&#8221; p. 26</p>

<p>&#8220;Neo-Malthusianism insisted on the eugenic and economic necessity of getting the poor to limit their fertility&#8230;&#8221; p. 28</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger clearly supported the assassination of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who, ironically would become her greatest financial supporter&#8230;A criminal charge of inciting assassination was brought against her&#8230;&#8221; p. 29. A reverse Stockholm Syndrome?</p>

<p>&#8220;Brooklyn [was]...inhabited by immigrant Jews and Italians&#8230;in 1916. Planned Parenthood dates its founding from from the establishment of this clinic [in Brooklyn].&#8221; p. 33.</p>

<p>Franks cites a recurring theme of Sanger and Planned Parenthood complaining of, &#8220;those who should never have been born.&#8221; p 33-34. footnoted, American Birth Control League, &#8220;What We Stand For.&#8221;</p>

<p>Sanger, &#8220;[N]ever worked well with others in the birth-control movement unless it was understood that she was in charge.&#8221; p. 35. Margaret Sanger had to be in control of, well, everything.</p>

<p>Sanger organized lobbying efforts to persuade legislators, but &#8220;[U]ltimately her goal was achieved not through the legislature but through the courts.&#8221; p. 35. Culminating in <em>Roe v Wade</em>.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger shared&#8230;the belief that male leadership was important for the birth-control movement&#8217;s fund-raising and general success.&#8221; p. 36 (!)</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger&#8217;s eugenic ideas were&#8230;attractive to the rich, who often perceived their wealth as a demonstration of their innate genetic superiority.&#8221; p. 37.</p>

<p>John D. Rockefller, Jr. donated to the American Eugenics Society&#8212;he agreed with the philosophy and mission of AES that, &#8220;moral people are born, not made; the criminal is a defective&#8230;&#8221; p.38. This should not be confused with the Calvinistic tenet of the Total Depravity of the human condition.</p>

<p>The upper-class ladies of Mahattan wrote, &#8220;Margaret was rather like a lion tamer. She kept us each on our boxes until she needed us&#8212;and then we jumped and jumped fast.&#8221; p. 39.</p>

<p>Margaret Sanger and the Eugenics movement defined &#8220;unfit&#8221; as &#8220;poor, disabled, sickly, alcoholics, impaired mental capacity, feeble-minded [whatever that is] idiots, imbeciles, morons&#8230;she was a committed negative eugenicist.&#8221; p. 40-41. Meaning that negative human qualities-as she defined them-were to be breeded out or eliminated.&nbsp; Positive eugenics was the encouraging of the &#8220;good&#8221; qualities to be expanded in the human gene pool. Usually seen in rich white people, like Margaret Sanger. &#8220;A self-anointed elite&#8230;&#8221; p. 41.</p>

She merely enjoyed the company and patronage and donations of people who were racists. And the occasional speech to the KKK.&nbsp; Sanger is never pictured wearing a white hood.&nbsp; Sanger simply divided mankind into the &#8220;fit&#8221; and unfit using, &#8220;Such eugenic criteria as poverty, intelligence and disability&#8230;&#8221; p. 43. The &#8220;Negro&#8221; was grouped with the &#8220;unfit.&#8221; </p>

<p>Some might consider Margaret Sanger a racist because of her &#8220;Negro Project.&#8221; This was her Planned Parenthood program &#8220;to promote contraceptive use among Southern blacks, arguing that there is a need to recruit African-American doctors and ministers to carry out the [Birth Control Federation of America&#8217;s] plan.&#8221;&nbsp; Here is her letter to Clarence Gamble whose fortune came from the Proctor and Gamble soap company,
</p><blockquote><p>
It seems to me from my experience where I have been in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, that while the colored Negroes have great respect for white doctors they can get closer to their own members and more or less lay their cards on the table which means their ignorance, superstitions and doubts&#8230;The ministers [<em>sic</em>] work is also important and also he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. p. 43.</p></blockquote><p> </p>

<p>Here is the quote of most concern to the Margaret Sanger defender,</p>

<p>&#8220;<big><strong>We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population,&#8221; writes Sanger</strong></big>, &#8220;[A]nd the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.&#8221; p. 43. Margaret Sanger does not use the phrase, &#8220;Uppity Negros.&#8221;&nbsp; Not quite. </p>

<p>So how does Margaret Sanger sell her utopia? Angela Franks tells us, &#8220;The whole process would require a huge propaganda system mobilizing the hegemonic forces of ideological dissemination, from academia to Madison Avenue: &#8220;But to motivate people, mass education&#8230;you need psychologists, you need people who&#8217;ve been in the advertising business, you need all types of businessmen, all kinds of people putting this puzzle together to make it effective.&#8221; &#8221; p. 48.</p>

<p>Sanger was a master of &#8220;[T]he new public-relation situation,&#8221; selling &#8220;Quality, not quantity&#8230;&#8221; p. 51. </p>

<p>&#8220;To the end of her life, Sanger persisted in a eugenically compromised conception of freedom, which could not rid itself of the impulse to manipulate the marginalized.&#8221; And, &#8220;In the last years of her life&#8230;her growing loneliness led to greater dependence on Demerol and alcohol&#8230;At&#8230;her last public appearance, the toll that her addictions had taken was reportedly evident.&#8221; p. 54.</p>

<p>So how did Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger get funded? &#8220;[W]ealthly businessmen were becoming interested in the supposed connection between population and economic stability.&#8221; p. 55.</p>

<p>William Vogt served as national director in 1951 and made famous with the best seller, Road to Survival (1948) liked to shock physicians. Franks quotes Vogt, &#8220;Why are you trying to save the lives of children, when you&#8217;ll doom them to starvation?&#8221; p. 55.</p>

<p>&#8220;[Alan Guttmacher] was a longtime advocate of eugenic sterilization for the mentally disabled.&#8221; p.56.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Guttmacher, &#8220;The fecundity suddenly bestowed upon the diabetic in 1922 by the boon of insulin is not a pure blessing, certainly not a genetic blessing.&#8221; p. 56.</p>

<p>Guttmacher &#8220;[B]elieved in aborting a disabled fetus for &#8220;eugenic reasons.&#8221;&#8221; p. 58.</p>

<p>It is the contention of this book that the lens through which Planned Parenthood views female fertility is largely eugenic&#8230; p. 60.</p>

<p>Planned Parenthood wants, &#8220;the option of aborting fetuses with disabilities&#8230;reducing human persons to a utilitarian calculus&#8230;&#8221; p. 63.</p>

<p>&#8220;BABIES ARE LOUD, SMELLY, AND EXPENSIVE. UNLESS YOU WANT ONE.&#8221; A Planned Parenthood ad. p 63.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger solved [selling eugenics] by proposing propaganda for the many and coercion for the resisting few.&#8221; p. 71.</p>

<p>&#8220;Planned Parenthood frequently egage[d] in million-dollar ad campaigns to sway public opinion.&#8221; p. 87.</p>

<p>&#8220;Guttmacher was never a friend of the eugenic targets, the disabled and the poor.&#8221; p. 88.</p>

<p>&#8220;[Planned Parenthood views the] disabled people as diseases, first and foremost, reducing their humanity and personhood to an afterthought.&#8221; p.89.</p>

<p>Not cited but reflecting the movie Minority Report and echoing C. Everett Koop, MD, Franks writes of &#8220;&#8220;search and destroy&#8221; abortions&#8230;&#8220;genetic discrimination.&#8221;&#8221; p. 90.</p>

<p>&#8220;The basic eugenic attitude could thus confuse the prevention of a disability with the elimination of the disabled.&#8221; p. 92.</p>

<p>&#8220;Walter Glannon has recently argued that &#8220;genetically defective&#8221; fetuses should be aborted&#8230;eerily echoing the Nazi condemnation of &#8220;life unworthy of life.&#8221;&#8221; p.92.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sir Douglas Black, past president of the Royal College of Physicians in Great Britain, said, &#8220;[I]t would be ethical to put a rejected child upon a course of management that would end in its death&#8230;I say that it is ethical that a child suffering from Down&#8217;s syndrome&#8230;should not survive.&#8221; p. 93.</p>

<p>&#8220;As we saw in Sanger&#8217;s groundbreaking account of the relation of &#8220;woman&#8221; to &#8220;the new race&#8221; (and as in Nazi Germany), the burden of eugenic responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of women, and thus they become the target of both propaganda and direct coercion.&#8221; p. 93.</p>

<p>&#8220;A 1991 study reported that 85 percent of genetic counselors in training were willing to participate in fetal sex-selection tests upon requests.&#8221; p.94.</p>

<p>&#8220;The eugenics movement has used arguments based on cost-effectiveness with great success&#8230;&#8221; p. 94.</p>

<p>&#8220;On the January 15, 2001, episode of <em>Politically Incorrect,</em> Host Bill Maher equated his two dogs with mentally disabled children.&nbsp; &#8220;I&#8217;ve often said if I had two retarded children, I&#8217;d be a hero, and yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing&#8212;what?&#8221; quipped Maher.&nbsp; Children with disabilities are &#8220;sweet,&#8221; &#8220;loving,&#8221; and &#8220;kind, but they don&#8217;t mentally advance at all&#8230;Dogs are like retarded children.&#8221; p. 94.</p>

<p>&#8220;Persons with disabilities threaten to disrupt a&#8230;social economy [of consumerist values]&#8221; p. 97.</p>

<p>&#8220;Mary Steichen Calderone, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America&#8217;s medical director from 1953 to 1964, recalled that&#8230; &#8220;Sanger&#8230;disliked physicians.&#8221;&#8221; p. 109.</p>

<p>&#8220;Clarence James Gamble (1894-1966)...heir to some of the Procter and Gamble fortune&#8230;did not need to work for a living and was able to dedicate&#8230;full-time&#8230;[to] eugenics work.&#8221; p. 112.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger was so supportive of Gamble&#8217;s efforts that she hoped he would take over her position as president of IPPF in 1953.&#8221; p. 119.</p>

<p>&#8220;Research promoted by the population-control lobby&#8230;openly acknowledged&#8230;[surveys were] a tool that could be used in a way &#8220;similar to any market research project: to demonstrate the existence of a demand for goods and services&#8221;...[where] demographers ...were&#8230;salespeople&#8230;&#8221; p. 154.</p>

<p>&#8220;Eugenicist Frederick Osborn [held] the chief administrative position in the Population Council. ...Perhaps&#8230;chosen because his experience in propaganda as the head of the U.S. Army and Air Force Information and Education Division during World War II&#8230;&#8221; p. 159.</p>

<p>Eugenicists and Planned Parenthood wanted to destroy the family unit to advance their ideology, &#8220;Germaine Greer quotes demographer Kingsley Davis&#8217;s testimony before the House Select Committee on Population in 1978: &#8220;If you want to adopt very extreme means of controlling fertility I can immediately think of some, such as breaking down the family system, for example, by not giving children the family name of the parents; in fact not letting them know who the parents are and vice versa.&nbsp; Soon the motivation for having children would be seriously reduced.&#8221;&#8221; p. 176.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Margaret Sanger, 1926, &#8220;[A]sk the government to first take off the burdens of the insane and feebleminded from your backs. Sterilization for these is the remedy.&#8221; p. 179</p>

<p>&#8220;<strong><big>When one group is designated inferior and stripped of its rights, all marginalized persons&#8212;and always women and girls&#8212;are thereby endangered; this is the vital lesson that the history of eugenics can teach feminism.</big></strong>&#8221; p. 183. </p>

<p>Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes pre-judges as in the theme of the movie Minority Report, and Franks quotes, &#8220;It is better for all the world if, instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crimes or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind&#8230;Three generations of imbeciles is enough.&#8221; p. 183.</p>

<p>&#8220;Margaret Sanger demonstrated the depth of her allegiance to the eugenic party line by advocating the sterilization of all &#8220;defectives.&#8221; p. 187.</p>

<p>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s &#8220;Guttmacher believed being poor was a sufficient indication for the permanent removal of fertility.&#8221; p. 190.</p>

<p>In chapter seven Franks begins Selling Out the Sisterhood, with a quote from Linda Beglio, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, &#8220;<strong><big>Screw the patients, spend your money on politics</big></strong>.&#8221; Cited by Alfred F. Moran, PPFA Annual Meeting, October 31, 1981. p. 203.</p>

<p>&#8220;Poor women have come to be looked upon simply as &#8220;at-risk reproducers&#8221;...a flattening of female identify&#8230;&#8221; p. 204</p>

<p>Children reduce discretionary spending, &#8220;Which will you choose, progeny or purchasing power?&#8221; p. 236.</p>

<p>To Margaret Sanger, &#8220;Human beings (and, therefore, women) do not have an innate dignity. They are like a commodity that loses its value when the market is flooded. These worthless people in turn became the ignorant, idle, impoverished class. Thus, &#8220;woman has, through her reproductive ability, founded and perpetuated the tyrannies of the Earth.&#8221; p. 241.</p>

<p>Margaret Sanger writes,
</p><blockquote><p>By all means there should be no children when mother (or father) suffers from such diseases as tuberculosis, gonorrhea&#8230;cancer&#8230;or mental disorders&#8230;no more children should be born when the parents, though healthy themselves, find that their children are physically or mentally defective.&nbsp; No matter how much they desire children, no man and woman have a right to bring into the world those who are sure to suffer from mental or physical affliction. It condemns the child to a life of misery and places upon the community the burden of caring for them, probably of their defective descendants for many generations. p. 242.</p></blockquote>

<p>Angela Franks quotes Germaine Greer,
</p><blockquote><p>All the time women have been agitating for freedom and self-determination they have been coming more and more under a kind of control that they cannot even protest against. Feminists used to demand the right to to control by others.; what we got was the duty to submit our bodies to control by others. Much of what is done to women in the name of health has no rationale beyond control.&#8221; p. 249</p></blockquote>

<p>In the Chapter Notes Angela Franks writes about herself, &#8220;My perspective is that of a feminist (that is, one with a special commitment to furthering justice for women)...&#8221; p.259.</p>

<p>In addition to abandoning her children, Margaret Sanger may not have been much of a mother nor much of a cook, &#8220;she always burned the cocoa.&#8221; p. 261.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger honestly states her distaste for the poor, a standard component of basic eugenic attitude: &#8220;I hated the wretchedness and hopelessness of the poor, and never experienced the satisfaction in working among them that so many noble women have found.&#8221;&#8221; p. 263.</p>

<p>&#8220;It should be noted that Sanger never worked as a professional social worker.&#8221;&nbsp; p. 273.</p>

<p><em>Margaret Sanger&#8217;s Eugenic Legacy</em> by Angela Franks published in 2005 is one of the very best scholarly works on <em>The Control of Female Fertility</em>.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Feminists who hold Margaret Sanger as the patroness saint of the modern woman will not be pleased with this exhaustive study of Margaret Sanger&#8217;s &#8220;Genuine commitment to the eugenic ideology.&#8221; p. 1.</p>

<p>This book benefits from the rigorous academic accountability of Franks&#8217; dissertation committee (on her non-dissertation topic) at Boston College.</p>

<p>The book is a must read for both the Planned Parenthood historian and the pro-life anti-abortionist.</p>

<p>On page 5 Franks begins with a quote from Margaret Sanger in 1955,
</p><blockquote><p>
I see no wider meaning of family planning than control&#8230;[T]here&#8230;are some families&#8230;where restriction should be an order for the betterment of the&#8230;race.</p></blockquote>

<p>Sanger was able to implement her ideal of Utopian control because she was, &#8220;A most capable administrator and detail-person&#8230;and held her own in a male-dominated world.&#8221; p. 5-6. </p><blockquote><p>[H]er organizational genius effectively [determined] the contours of the&#8230;population control [movement]. This ideology of Sanger&#8217;s I call &#8220;the ideology of control.&#8221; p. 8</p></blockquote>

<p>Franks frames the debate asking, &#8220;[C]an the <em>liberation </em>of women be built on the <em>control </em>of their bodies? Emphasis in original, p. 6. She continues,</p>

<blockquote><p>How could a feminist advocate forced sterilization? Why did Sanger participate so extensively in the eugenics movement?</p>

<p>Sanger of course assumed her views to be rational, evening claiming their scientific necessity.</p>

<p>[Sanger must be taken] seriously precisely because she has been so influential and, I believe, dangerous. p. 7.</p></blockquote>

<p>Sanger was-and her philosophy is- &#8220;dangerous&#8221; because &#8220;Sanger believed that&#8230;[controlling] reproduction&#8230;was a matter of power. [And] certain classes of people should not be parents.&#8221; p. 7. </p>

<p>Franks makes a compelling argument that Margaret Sanger is an ideologue,&nbsp; &#8220;I use the term &#8220;ideology&#8221; to indicate a worldview that obfuscates reality to such a degree that the person holding these beliefs is simply unable to recognize what is really the case.&#8221; p. 8-9.

<p>Franks presents a diplomatic analysis of research of Sanger&#8217;s life because there seems to be conflicting documentation on the motives of the founder of Planned Parenthood.&nbsp; But Franks has solved this contradiction in the Margaret Sanger historical record. </p>

<p>Franks notes, &#8220;Sanger [would be] saying one thing in public while confiding quite a different belief in private letters to her friends.&#8221; p.11.</p>

<p>Franks calls this &#8220;equivocation.&#8221; p. 11.&nbsp; Perhaps the more accurate description of Margaret Sanger and her Planned Parenthood offspring would be &#8220;duplicitous.&#8221; </p>

<p>Sanger &#8220;equates abortion with&#8230; birth control&#8221; p. 11.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Sanger &#8220;promoted a sexuality on the phallocentric model: pleasure without commitment.&#8221; p. 14.</p>

<p>&#8220;Race&#8221; for Sanger meant the &#8220;human race.&#8221; p. 15.</p>

<p>Franks depicts Sanger&#8217;s reasoning, &#8220;A large family is the sign of being unfit. In Sanger&#8217;s worldview, the poor are poor because the are unfit, and they have large families because they are unfit.&#8221; p. 16.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Sanger where she insisted,
</p><blockquote><p>[T]hat eugenics must target whole classes: I am frank to say that I do not see how it is possible to &#8216;sort out individual values within each class&#8217; and make an &#8216;individual selection&#8217; of those fit to reproduce, nor am I at all sure that such selection would be really eugenic. p. 17, footnoted, Margaret Sanger to Frederick Osborn, 12/29/39.</p></blockquote>

<p>&#8220;The organizations that Sanger founded echo her fundamental aim: &#8220;To contribute directly and effectively to the raising the quality of our people in every walk of life&#8230;&#8221;...&#8220;Quality, not Quantity.&#8221; p. 22</p>

<p>&#8220;Mabel Dodge, in a famous story, reminisced that Sanger was &#8220;the first person I ever knew who was openly an ardent propagandist for the joys of the flesh.&#8221;&#8221; p. 23. footnoted, Quoted in Chesler, 96.</p>

<p>Margaret Sanger&#8217;s vision was-is-to &#8220;control female fertility instead of male desire.&#8221; p. 25</p>

<p>&#8220;Eugenics is advocated by members of a self-anointed elite&#8230;who know better than the rest and who ought to have the power to control society.&#8221; p. 26</p>

<p>&#8220;Neo-Malthusianism insisted on the eugenic and economic necessity of getting the poor to limit their fertility&#8230;&#8221; p. 28</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger clearly supported the assassination of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who, ironically would become her greatest financial supporter&#8230;A criminal charge of inciting assassination was brought against her&#8230;&#8221; p. 29. A reverse Stockholm Syndrome?</p>

<p>&#8220;Brooklyn [was]...inhabited by immigrant Jews and Italians&#8230;in 1916. Planned Parenthood dates its founding from from the establishment of this clinic [in Brooklyn].&#8221; p. 33.</p>

<p>Franks cites a recurring theme of Sanger and Planned Parenthood complaining of, &#8220;those who should never have been born.&#8221; p 33-34. footnoted, American Birth Control League, &#8220;What We Stand For.&#8221;</p>

<p>Sanger, &#8220;[N]ever worked well with others in the birth-control movement unless it was understood that she was in charge.&#8221; p. 35. Margaret Sanger had to be in control of, well, everything.</p>

<p>Sanger organized lobbying efforts to persuade legislators, but &#8220;[U]ltimately her goal was achieved not through the legislature but through the courts.&#8221; p. 35. Culminating in <em>Roe v Wade</em>.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger shared&#8230;the belief that male leadership was important for the birth-control movement&#8217;s fund-raising and general success.&#8221; p. 36 (!)</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger&#8217;s eugenic ideas were&#8230;attractive to the rich, who often perceived their wealth as a demonstration of their innate genetic superiority.&#8221; p. 37.</p>

<p>John D. Rockefller, Jr. donated to the American Eugenics Society&#8212;he agreed with the philosophy and mission of AES that, &#8220;moral people are born, not made; the criminal is a defective&#8230;&#8221; p.38. This should not be confused with the Calvinistic tenet of the Total Depravity of the human condition.</p>

<p>The upper-class ladies of Mahattan wrote, &#8220;Margaret was rather like a lion tamer. She kept us each on our boxes until she needed us&#8212;and then we jumped and jumped fast.&#8221; p. 39.</p>

<p>Margaret Sanger and the Eugenics movement defined &#8220;unfit&#8221; as &#8220;poor, disabled, sickly, alcoholics, impaired mental capacity, feeble-minded [whatever that is] idiots, imbeciles, morons&#8230;she was a committed negative eugenicist.&#8221; p. 40-41. Meaning that negative human qualities-as she defined them-were to be breeded out or eliminated.&nbsp; Positive eugenics was the encouraging of the &#8220;good&#8221; qualities to be expanded in the human gene pool. Usually seen in rich white people, like Margaret Sanger. &#8220;A self-anointed elite&#8230;&#8221; p. 41.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger does not seem to have been an overt racist.&#8221; p. 43. She merely enjoyed the company and patronage and donations of people who were racists. And the occasional speech to the KKK.&nbsp; Sanger is never pictured wearing a white hood.&nbsp; Sanger simply divided mankind into the &#8220;fit&#8221; and unfit using, &#8220;Such eugenic criteria as poverty, intelligence and disability&#8230;&#8221; p. 43. The &#8220;Negro&#8221; was grouped with the &#8220;unfit.&#8221; </p>

<p>Some might consider Margaret Sanger a racist because of her &#8220;Negro Project.&#8221; This was her Planned Parenthood program &#8220;to promote contraceptive use among Southern blacks, arguing that there is a need to recruit African-American doctors and ministers to carry out the [Birth Control Federation of America&#8217;s] plan.&#8221;&nbsp; Here is her letter to Clarence Gamble whose fortune came from the Proctor and Gamble soap company,
</p><blockquote><p>
It seems to me from my experience where I have been in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, that while the colored Negroes have great respect for white doctors they can get closer to their own members and more or less lay their cards on the table which means their ignorance, superstitions and doubts&#8230;The ministers [<em>sic</em>] work is also important and also he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. p. 43.</p></blockquote><p> </p>

<p>Here is the quote of most concern to the Margaret Sanger defender,</p>

<p>&#8220;<big><strong>We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population,&#8221; writes Sanger</strong></big>, &#8220;[A]nd the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.&#8221; p. 43.</p>

<p>So how does Margaret Sanger sell her utopia? Angela Franks tells us, &#8220;The whole process would require a huge propaganda system mobilizing the hegemonic forces of ideological dissemination, from academia to Madison Avenue: &#8220;But to motivate people, mass education&#8230;you need psychologists, you need people who&#8217;ve been in the advertising business, you need all types of businessmen, all kinds of people putting this puzzle together to make it effective.&#8221; &#8221; p. 48.</p>

<p>Sanger was a master of &#8220;[T]he new public-relation situation,&#8221; selling &#8220;Quality, not quantity&#8230;&#8221; p. 51. </p>

<p>&#8220;To the end of her life, Sanger persisted in a eugenically compromised conception of freedom, which could not rid itself of the impulse to manipulate the marginalized.&#8221; And, &#8220;In the last years of her life&#8230;her growing loneliness led to greater dependence on Demerol and alcohol&#8230;At&#8230;her last public appearance, the toll that her addictions had taken was reportedly evident.&#8221; p. 54.</p>

<p>So how did Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger get funded? &#8220;[W]ealthly businessmen were becoming interested in the supposed connection between population and economic stability.&#8221; p. 55.</p>

<p>William Vogt served as national director in 1951 and made famous with the best seller, Road to Survival (1948) liked to shock physicians. Franks quotes Vogt, &#8220;Why are you trying to save the lives of children, when you&#8217;ll doom them to starvation?&#8221; p. 55.</p>

<p>&#8220;[Alan Guttmacher] was a longtime advocate of eugenic sterilization for the mentally disabled.&#8221; p.56.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Guttmacher, &#8220;The fecundity suddenly bestowed upon the diabetic in 1922 by the boon of insulin is not a pure blessing, certainly not a genetic blessing.&#8221; p. 56.</p>

<p>Guttmacher &#8220;[B]elieved in aborting a disabled fetus for &#8220;eugenic reasons.&#8221;&#8221; p. 58.</p>

<p>It is the contention of this book that the lens through which Planned Parenthood views female fertility is largely eugenic&#8230; p. 60.</p>

<p>Planned Parenthood wants, &#8220;the option of aborting fetuses with disabilities&#8230;reducing human persons to a utilitarian calculus&#8230;&#8221; p. 63.</p>

<p>&#8220;BABIES ARE LOUD, SMELLY, AND EXPENSIVE. UNLESS YOU WANT ONE.&#8221; A Planned Parenthood ad. p 63.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger solved [selling eugenics] by proposing propaganda for the many and coercion for the resisting few.&#8221; p. 71.</p>

<p>&#8220;Planned Parenthood frequently egage[d] in million-dollar ad campaigns to sway public opinion.&#8221; p. 87.</p>

<p>&#8220;Guttmacher was never a friend of the eugenic targets, the disabled and the poor.&#8221; p. 88.</p>

<p>&#8220;[Planned Parenthood views the] disabled people as diseases, first and foremost, reducing their humanity and personhood to an afterthought.&#8221; p.89.</p>

<p>Not cited but reflecting the movie Minority Report and echoing C. Everett Koop, MD, Franks writes of &#8220;&#8220;search and destroy&#8221; abortions&#8230;&#8220;genetic discrimination.&#8221;&#8221; p. 90.</p>

<p>&#8220;The basic eugenic attitude could thus confuse the prevention of a disability with the elimination of the disabled.&#8221; p. 92.</p>

<p>&#8220;Walter Glannon has recently argued that &#8220;genetically defective&#8221; fetuses should be aborted&#8230;eerily echoing the Nazi condemnation of &#8220;life unworthy of life.&#8221;&#8221; p.92.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sir Douglas Black, past president of the Royal College of Physicians in Great Britain, said, &#8220;[I]t would be ethical to put a rejected child upon a course of management that would end in its death&#8230;I say that it is ethical that a child suffering from Down&#8217;s syndrome&#8230;should not survive.&#8221; p. 93.</p>

<p>&#8220;As we saw in Sanger&#8217;s groundbreaking account of the relation of &#8220;woman&#8221; to &#8220;the new race&#8221; (and as in Nazi Germany), the burden of eugenic responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of women, and thus they become the target of both propaganda and direct coercion.&#8221; p. 93.</p>

<p>&#8220;A 1991 study reported that 85 percent of genetic counselors in training were willing to participate in fetal sex-selection tests upon requests.&#8221; p.94.</p>

<p>&#8220;The eugenics movement has used arguments based on cost-effectiveness with great success&#8230;&#8221; p. 94.</p>

<p>&#8220;On the January 15, 2001, episode of <em>Politically Incorrect,</em> Host Bill Maher equated his two dogs with mentally disabled children.&nbsp; &#8220;I&#8217;ve often said if I had two retarded children, I&#8217;d be a hero, and yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing&#8212;what?&#8221; quipped Maher.&nbsp; Children with disabilities are &#8220;sweet,&#8221; &#8220;loving,&#8221; and &#8220;kind, but they don&#8217;t mentally advance at all&#8230;Dogs are like retarded children.&#8221; p. 94.</p>

<p>&#8220;Persons with disabilities threaten to disrupt a&#8230;social economy [of consumerist values]&#8221; p. 97.</p>

<p>&#8220;Mary Steichen Calderone, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America&#8217;s medical director from 1953 to 1964, recalled that&#8230; &#8220;Sanger&#8230;disliked physicians.&#8221;&#8221; p. 109.</p>

<p>&#8220;Clarence James Gamble (1894-1966)...heir to some of the Procter and Gamble fortune&#8230;did not need to work for a living and was able to dedicate&#8230;full-time&#8230;[to] eugenics work.&#8221; p. 112.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger was so supportive of Gamble&#8217;s efforts that she hoped he would take over her position as president of IPPF in 1953.&#8221; p. 119.</p>

<p>&#8220;Research promoted by the population-control lobby&#8230;openly acknowledged&#8230;[surveys were] a tool that could be used in a way &#8220;similar to any market research project: to demonstrate the existence of a demand for goods and services&#8221;...[where] demographers ...were&#8230;salespeople&#8230;&#8221; p. 154.</p>

<p>&#8220;Eugenicist Frederick Osborn [held] the chief administrative position in the Population Council. ...Perhaps&#8230;chosen because his experience in propaganda as the head of the U.S. Army and Air Force Information and Education Division during World War II&#8230;&#8221; p. 159.</p>

<p>Eugenicists and Planned Parenthood wanted to destroy the family unit to advance their ideology, &#8220;Germaine Greer quotes demographer Kingsley Davis&#8217;s testimony before the House Select Committee on Population in 1978: &#8220;If you want to adopt very extreme means of controlling fertility I can immediately think of some, such as breaking down the family system, for example, by not giving children the family name of the parents; in fact not letting them know who the parents are and vice versa.&nbsp; Soon the motivation for having children would be seriously reduced.&#8221;&#8221; p. 176.</p>

<p>Franks quotes Margaret Sanger, 1926, &#8220;[A]sk the government to first take off the burdens of the insane and feebleminded from your backs. Sterilization for these is the remedy.&#8221; p. 179</p>

<p>&#8220;<strong><big>When one group is designated inferior and stripped of its rights, all marginalized persons&#8212;and always women and girls&#8212;are thereby endangered; this is the vital lesson that the history of eugenics can teach feminism.</big></strong>&#8221; p. 183. </p>

<p>Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes pre-judges as in the theme of the movie Minority Report, and Franks quotes, &#8220;It is better for all the world if, instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crimes or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind&#8230;Three generations of imbeciles is enough.&#8221; p. 183.</p>

<p>&#8220;Margaret Sanger demonstrated the depth of her allegiance to the eugenic party line by advocating the sterilization of all &#8220;defectives.&#8221; p. 187.</p>

<p>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s &#8220;Guttmacher believed being poor was a sufficient indication for the permanent removal of fertility.&#8221; p. 190.</p>

<p>In chapter seven Franks begins Selling Out the Sisterhood, with a quote from Linda Beglio, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, &#8220;<strong><big>Screw the patients, spend your money on politics</big></strong>.&#8221; Cited by Alfred F. Moran, PPFA Annual Meeting, October 31, 1981. p. 203.</p>

<p>&#8220;Poor women have come to be looked upon simply as &#8220;at-risk reproducers&#8221;...a flattening of female identify&#8230;&#8221; p. 204</p>

<p>Children reduce discretionary spending, &#8220;Which will you choose, progeny or purchasing power?&#8221; p. 236.</p>

<p>To Margaret Sanger, &#8220;Human beings (and, therefore, women) do not have an innate dignity. They are like a commodity that loses its value when the market is flooded. These worthless people in turn became the ignorant, idle, impoverished class. Thus, &#8220;woman has, through her reproductive ability, founded and perpetuated the tyrannies of the Earth.&#8221; p. 241.</p>

<p>Margaret Sanger writes,
</p><blockquote><p>By all means there should be no children when mother (or father) suffers from such diseases as tuberculosis, gonorrhea&#8230;cancer&#8230;or mental disorders&#8230;no more children should be born when the parents, though healthy themselves, find that their children are physically or mentally defective.&nbsp; No matter how much they desire children, no man and woman have a right to bring into the world those who are sure to suffer from mental or physical affliction. It condemns the child to a life of misery and places upon the community the burden of caring for them, probably of their defective descendants for many generations. p. 242.</p></blockquote>

<p>Angela Franks quotes Germaine Greer,
</p><blockquote><p>All the time women have been agitating for freedom and self-determination they have been coming more and more under a kind of control that they cannot even protest against. Feninists used to demand the right to to control by others.; what we got was the duty to submit our bodies to control by others. Much of what is done to women in the name of health has no rationale beyond control.&#8221; p. 249</p></blockquote>

<p>In the Chapter Notes Angela Franks writes about herself, &#8220;My perspective is that of a feminist (that is, one with a special commitment to furthering justice for women)...&#8221; p.259.</p>

<p>In addition to abandoning her children, Margaret Sanger may not have been much of a mother nor much of a cook, &#8220;she always burned the cocoa.&#8221; p. 261.</p>

<p>&#8220;Sanger honestly states her distaste for the poor, a standard component of basic eugenic attitude: &#8220;I hated the wretchedness and hopelessness of the poor, and never experienced the satisfaction in working among them that so many noble women have found.&#8221;&#8221; p. 263.</p>

<p>&#8220;It should be noted that Sanger never worked as a professional social worker.&#8221;&nbsp; p. 273.</p>

        <p>You may wonder why I am posting such a controversial statement such as &#8220;Christ Divides Men&#8221; on the Pro-Life Unity site.&nbsp; When it comes to the issue of life, men and women, brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers will be divided.&nbsp; It is necessary for us to understand this division, which demands that we take a strong stance for life and not allow the culture of death to overcome us.&nbsp; At Pro-Life Unity, we are seeking not only for people to learn and understand the issue of life, we are also calling for those who have common beliefs to unite in our common cause, to defend the defenseless and put an end to abortion, even if we disagree on some of the basics / methods.</p>

<p>Did Christ come to unite the world?&nbsp; (Luke 12:51) tells us something a little different than what so many people have come to believe.</p>

<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>

<p>(Luke 12:51</p>

<p>49 “I 1have come to cast fire upon the earth; and show I wish it were already kindled!</p>

<p>&nbsp; 50 “But I have a a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!</p>

<p>&nbsp; 51 “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division;</p>

<p>&nbsp; 52 for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 53 “They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”</p>

<p>&nbsp; 54 And He was also saying to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 55 “And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a hot day,’ and it turns out that way.</p>

<p>&nbsp; 56 “You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but 1why do you not analyze this present time?</p>

<p>&nbsp; 57 “And why do you not even on your own initiative judge what is right? &#8220;</p>

<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-</p>

<p>Why do we not &#8220;judge what is right&#8221; and act on it?&nbsp; It would be one thing for us to disagree on food, color or clothes, prompting us to keep our mouths closed because it is not a big issue.&nbsp; It is something completely different for people to keep quiet about abortion because they are apathetic or afraid of controversy.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Will we lose our jobs, friends or cause division with our families by speaking out to end abortion?&nbsp; Perhaps, but division to save lives is more important than allowing the unborn to be killed without our defense and is unfair to those with whom we disagree.&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; Because maybe people need us to take a stand so that they understand why this stand needs to be taken.&nbsp; Maybe they will change sides.&nbsp; Regardless of whether they do or not, we must take a stand for life, or in the end, we will certainly be considered &#8220;lukewarm&#8221; by our Lord, Jesus Christ.&nbsp; We may not want to judge and demand an end to abortion, but I guarantee we will be judged when we meet our Maker.

        <p>Six votes?&nbsp; What happened to one man, one vote?</p>

<p>Federal Judge Stephen Robinson approved a system called cumulative voting, which will allow each person in a N.Y. city to vote 6 times instead of one, guaranteeing the election of a Latino representative.</p>

<p>Are we surprised?&nbsp; We shouldn&#8217;t be.&nbsp; We have allowed liberals to overrun this country with their insanity.&nbsp; I often refer to liberals as children who have gained power because people believe that because they are older, they must be grown up.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Not.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Because of liberals / Democrats, abortion, the largest killer of humanity since the dawn of man, has claimed the lives of over 52 million people in America alone in the last 37 years.&nbsp; Cloning is legal and federally (your money) funded, euthanasia kills millions under the name of &#8220;compassion&#8221;, our children are brainwashed by the liberal, socialist schools, embryonic stem cell research is legal and federally (your money) funded and Planned Parenthood is funded by your money to the tune of over $350 MILLION dollars every single year.</p>

<p>Now they are talking about how to control our thermostats to make sure our house are set at approved temperatures, they are working on telling us what food we can and cannot eat and they are working on allowable levels of fat in our bodies.</p>

<p>America USED to be the land of the free, home of the brave.&nbsp; That is gone, long gone.&nbsp; The question is, will Americans stand up, not only for those who cannot speak for themselves, but even for themselves!</p>

<p>We are pitiful if we do not speak out against the intentional killing of innocent babies in the womb, we are more pitiful if we just sit there &amp; allow ourselves to be turned into government slaves without putting up a fight.</p>

<p>Not long ago, Planned Parenthood decided to put up a fence on public property in order to stop pro-life sidewalk counselors from helping women who were going into the facility to kill their children.&nbsp; Despite the presence of at least a half dozen deathscorts (pro-abortion escorts), sidewalk counselors have been able to save hundreds of lives from certain death, and hundreds of women and men from being scarred forever.</p>

<p>Dozens of students from Christendom, a Christian University about an hour away from Washington, drive into town every week so that they can pray in the grassy area just to the side of the sidewalk which leads up to the abortion mill.&nbsp; They now have to stand out on the main sidewalk area to pray.</p>

<p>Rev. Patrick Mahoney held a press conference on the main sidewalk while occasionally communicating with D.C. officers.&nbsp; </p>

<p>The officers had to check with their superiors whether or not the area in question was going to be viewed as a public or private area.&nbsp; In the end, the officer told Mahoney that the area is a private area owned by Planned Parenthood.&nbsp; Mahoney stressed that there is a public manhole owned by the city of Washington D.C. in the middle of the sidewalk of the disputed area, and that his attorneys had done a thourough check on the legality of the fence.&nbsp;  The attoreys said there was no legal basis of their claim that it became private property just because they erected a fence there.</p>

<p>A number of pro-life people and organizations spoke out against this law.</p>

<p>Shinn stated &#8220;They&#8217;re trying to get us to shut up and get us away from the abortion mills.&nbsp; We&#8217;re shutting them down and they know it, and don&#8217;t like it&#8221;</p>

<p>Rev. Mahoney went out to the middle of the public sidewalk, in the disputed area, and knelt to pray to God.&nbsp; The officers stood back until he finished his prayer.</p>

<p>When Mahoney finished, he was handcuffed and taken to the police car.</p>

<p>Asked if he had any final words before the officers took him away, Mahoney said &#8220;Just continue to pray and pray that the church would respond and that many would come&#8221;</p>

<p>Rev. Mahoney was then taken away to jail, the lone defender for our rights to pray on public property.</p>
