Making Slavery Look Downright Compassionate

I’ve issued this revised cartoon to underscore a remarkable fact: America’s first black president aids and abets the slaughter of African-Americans. And he does so with the guile and determination of the Ku Klux Klan in its heyday.

As part of their abortion initiative, Barack Obama and the Democrat majority in Congress recently shut down Washington DC’s very successful and extremely popular school voucher program for low-income families-- the majority of whom are black-- and diverted its funding to local abortion mills, including Planned Parenthood. By the way, Planned Parenthood’s racist founder, Margaret Sanger, was an ardent supporter of the Klan; she spoke at numerous Klan rallies, sharing her vision of a lily-white America and her organization’s plan to bring it about.

Long ago, American slaveholders denied the personhood of African-Americans, just as today’s abortion advocates deny the personhood of unborn children. Even so, slaveholders valued their slaves, keeping them sheltered, clothed and fed. And they valued their slaves’ children, if only for their economic potential. So little do Obama and like minded politicians value human life that they cannot appreciate even so much as our children’s potential to contribute to the tax base upon which their own socialist agenda depends.

You’d think such self-serving politicians would look upon African-American children as latent votes for elections yet to come, if nothing more. But I suppose they expect to be comfortably retired by then and, like former slaveholders after the Civil War, have no more use for black people.

It’s now becoming clear that Barack Obama is willing to put everything on the table in order to be the president who passes health-care reform.

Everything, that is, except a ban on federal funding for abortion.

Last September, the president promised that “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.” Yet the legislation most likely to move forward in Congress would be the single greatest expansion of abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

The White House knows how to turn Mr. Obama’s September commitment into legislative action. I met with senior White House officials and told them that only adding a so-called Hyde Amendment to the health-care reform bills would fulfill the president’s promise to protect Americans from subsidizing abortion.

The Hyde Amendment dates back to the 1970s, when congressional leaders discovered that Medicaid was paying for nearly 300,000 abortions a year. This had not been an intended outcome of the Medicaid program, which was created in 1965 with strong bipartisan support. So in 1976 Rep. Henry Hyde introduced an amendment to the Health and Human Services appropriations bill prohibiting taxpayer funds from paying for abortions.

When doing battle at any “gate,” we often think of those we wish to liberate. When it comes to abortions, we consider those women inside and pray for them and claim God’s power and love for them in the victory. There is one thing we might not want to forget. For those women of our concern, for them, Hope and Love stand outside.

This is particularly true for those abortion mills where there is a praying-presence outside; and it can be true from afar through prayers of those unable to go to an abortion clinic. Lord, convict we who stand for hope and love to be faithful in doing the part to which you have called each of us.

The Tim Tebow Play Action Fake

When Focus on the Family bought the Tim Tebow ad for the Super Bowl, they must have known what they were doing. It was one of the most glorious fakes in the history of advertising. The National Organization for fewer and fewer women and NARAL had a cow when they heard about it, and Planned Parenthood even spent a bunch of money & time putting together their own anti-Tebow, anti-baby ad. These groups were demanding that CBS not air the forbidden topic of abortion, because to them, it’s freedom of speech unless you disagree.

When the ad (video below) finally ran, it was a simple feel-good ad (with a mom-tackle) that didn’t say a thing about abortion. It was a brilliant play action fake that had to be done and succeeded in getting traffic to their web site, where people could view the entire Tim Tebow story. For those of you who don’t know, a play action fake is when the quarterback pretends he is handing the ball to the running back, the running back then runs as if he has the ball, and the opposition goes after him. Then the quarterback suddenly turns around with the ball and throws it to a receiver.

Good move and congratulations Focus on the Family!!!

The media won’t show anything decent and wholesome in a good light (unless it makes a Democrat look good), and any decent commentary or wholesome information, like not having frequent sex or abortion kills babies, is forbidden. Look at how they panicked when one media representative asked if Tebow was saving himself for marriage.

Like Tebow said, “I think y’all are stunned right now”.

CBS didn’t “do the right thing”, they pocketed 2.8 million dollars on an ad that wasn’t even close to controversial. As a matter of fact, they probably turned down a Tebow ad that had the word abortion in it.

Fox News, CBS, NBC and all the rest of them are cowards. They won’t report on the real news, like what abortion is doing to our nation, how it kills babies and how women suffer because of it. Fifty-two million people killed by their mothers is news, and we need to keep speaking about it until they report it.

The unborn only have us, and if we are silent, they die alone.

Thanks to everyone who made the effort to get out and participate in a pro-life march this January, whether in Washington, San Fransisco or your home state. Now it’s time to make good on our promises. Let us not march again next January 22nd. Rather, let us End Abortion in 2010.

Pro-life activism is not an option. It is our DUTY to get involved.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Friday, February 5th is Call for Life Day. Contact all your elected officials (federal, state and local) using telephone, email and written letters to let them know how you feel about their abdication of duty in regards to defending innocent human life.

Saturday, February 6th is Adopt the Mills Day. Get out to an abortion mill or an abortion referral office and demonstrate your opposition to the massive human rights violations being committed behind their walls. Counsel the poor women going inside and make a difference in two lives.

40 Days for Life begins February 17th. Sign up at www.40daysforlife.com to pray and counsel at a local mill. This is not a big sacrifice to make and it has a great impact. Many abortion minded women will not go in if we are present, and abortion mills have been known to close after 40 Days campaigns!

A Prayer of Conversion for a Wayward Nation

In January 2008, one of our Agnesian sisters asked me to write a prayer to be read aloud outside a Planned Parenthood office here in Hays, Kansas. On the 37th anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s appalling, unconstitutional Roe decision, I offer this prayer to my countrymen for the conversion of its all-too-worldly people. Feel free to pass it on. And may God have mercy on our souls. --JFB

Almighty God,

We pause here to remember the uncounted victims of a misguided society: women, confused and frightened, who were led to believe problems would be solved by ending their pregnancies; the unborn children who died as a result; couples whose wonderful potential to foster new life has been stifled. Enlighten those who pervert the healing arts, that they might see the destruction they have wrought. Edify those who reduce unborn children to mere abstractions. Lead our citizens, courts and governments to understand that everyone has a right to live, regardless of age, ability, health or social circumstance.

Bless our youngsters, that they might appreciate their bodies, value chastity and understand the true purpose of sexuality.

Allay the fears of new parents. Encourage them, that they might treasure the lives they’ve brought into the world, trust in your providence and embrace the call to parenthood. May they understand that children are unrepeatable gifts, no matter the circumstances of their conception.

Grant that society will once again respect marriage as the insoluble union which brings forth the family and recognize the family as the very foundation upon which society itself rests. Dispel the selfishness that regards fertility as a malady and pregnancy as a disease, that couples might cherish procreation as a blessing and bring ever more life into the world.

Console those parents who once chose abortion and now regret their decision; may their grief turn to action and their suffering to resolve in testament to the Truth.

Strengthen with love all who seek You, that we might embrace our calling to be light amid the darkness and, so, transform America, that she might truly become a nation under You, oh Lord, with liberty and justice for all.

Saint Gianna Molla, who gave up her life that her unborn daughter might live, pray for us!

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, martyr of an earlier holocaust, pray for us!

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle!

I will be speaking today about blogging and blogging technologies at the Blogs for Life Conference in Washington D.C. at the Family Research Council. When I came up with the idea for this conference 6 years ago, the idea was to have a place for us bloggers to get together and talk about the life issues, how we can use our blogs to work together to end abortion and human killing research and how we can challenge the culture of death. The event has blossomed, thanks in large part to the prestige and promotional efforts of the Family Research Council, and now there are speakers of the highest caliber joining in this conversation. In this blog, I will discuss why we blog and then follow it with tips on blogging security.

So, why do we blog?

For those of you who don’t know, “blog” stands for weblog. What is a weblog? A weblog is simply the average schmoe putting his or her thoughts onto a web site using any one of the many free or paid Internet blogging applications. How does a blogger differ from a columnist? Well nowadays, there really isn’t a difference. In the early days a typical blogger used whatever was available, like blogger or moveable type, and cobbled everything together himself. By everything, I mean we decided the colors of the blog, the links, the layout and presentation. So many things had to be figured out that lots of us still have “Link” on the side of our sites.

Today, many people pay for their “blog” sites to be created and maintained. It is then syndicated and paid for, and they also have proof-readers. Technically, they are falling far from the “blog” tree and what they are doing is more identifiable as a column. Just because we write words which appear on the Internet, it doesn’t mean we are “blogging”.

There are still millions of everyday bloggers who are old-school, creating their own blogs and ranting about whatever ticks them off, or just talking about whatever flips their skirt, like collecting cans or cooking.

Which brings us to, why do we blog?

We blog to talk about whatever we want, whenever we want, without worrying about how it will effect us. (which is why so many people are fired from their jobs or get sued) We like to believe that what we have to say is that incredible gem everybody in the world is looking for, causing our site to go down from the millions of “unique” visitors we get that day. We put up site traffic analysis tools, hit counters and check our webalizers, wondering which article got the most attention so that we might reproduce that word of wisdom.

Do we blog for money? I’ve never heard of anyone blogging for money, how selfish do people think we are?!

Just kidding.

There’s nothing wrong with making a buck with our digital words of wisdom, so if you can do it or have done it, more power to you. Becoming a syndicated columnist isn’t a bad thing either!

How many of us are looking for that unique thought that nobody has added to the digital stream of consciousness we call the Internet? We want to believe we are just as good as that other person, you know, the one who gets a million hits a day. Come on, the only difference between what that person is writing and my witty and intelligent prose is that they “got lucky”. Or are they really better writers, attracting many more readers who are interested in what they have to say?

What about the pro-life issue? Is it possible for us to affect change? Can we make a difference? I believe we can, and I believe we do. That’s why I blog. Okay, I do it to rant too. Everybody wants to rant sometimes, don’t we?!

Let’s look at some of the modern blogging applications out there. Some of them include:

WordPress.org
Blogger.com
Movable Type
Expression Engine
TypePad
WordPress.com
Drupal

There are tons more, but those are the most popular. I’ve been using Expression engine for years, and I believe it’s the most powerful, but you will struggle to find help with it. No matter which one you choose, you will likely be hacked someday, especially if you are a pro-life or Christian blogger. You are less likely to have major hacking problems if you are using a hosted tool, like blogger, because they maintain their own servers and have strict restrictions on access to the root of the site, where a hacker is most likely to get in and inflict the most damage. If you created your own structure on your own domain name though, your doors will be wide open unless you follow some basic security rules.

1) Limit “God” access to those you completely trust - If you give administrative access to everybody, expect to have problems, lots of problems
2) Create strong passwords - Using password just won’t do it anymore. Make sure to include numbers.
3) Use a Linux or Unix server for your blogs or websites - Why? They are more secure, possibly just because they aren’t as popular.
4) Update your software frequently - If there’s a new patch out, install it. Most likely they have plugged some holes.
5) Use Captchas - Captchas are graphic representations of data a person has to type in order to submit a form.
6) Make sure your site is backed up every night - I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen a hacked site easily restored from a backup.
7) Back up your structure/layout - What good is developing that incredible site if you aren’t able to restore it in the event of a total server failure?

Abortion is 1/3 Of All Deaths - What Can We Do About It?

The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) report the following causes of death in the United States for the year 2006:

Number of deaths: 2,426,264

Death rate: 810.4 deaths per 100,000 population

Life expectancy: 77.7years

Infant Mortality rate: 6.69 deaths per 1,000 live births

Number Of Deaths For Leading Causes Of Death:

Heart disease: 631,636

Cancer: 559,888

Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 137,119

Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 124,583

Accidents (unintentional injuries): 121,599

Diabetes: 72,449

Alzheimer’s disease: 72,432

Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,326

Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 45,344

Septicemia: 34,234

One statistic is missing. How many deaths by abortion were there in 2006? The total is over 1,206,200 unborn humans dying. Consequently, if that 1.2 million is added to the 2.4 million deaths that the CDC reports, then abortion is the cause of death for 1/3 of all deaths in 2006.

In the year 2002 there were slightly over 2.4 million deaths reported, but without the 1,293,000 abortions included in that statistic that year. The ratio is even more than 1/3 of all deaths caused by abortion. Since 1973 approximately 50 million unborn humans have died that are excluded from government death statistics.

What Can We Do About It?

To start there are many activities this week marking the 37th anniversary of Roe v Wade. Most states will have events, but there are two major national marches and events in Washington DC and San Francisco. If you can’t make it to those there’s a great new opportunity called the Virtual March For Life where thousands have already signed up. Let’s remember the unborn every day of the year.
