§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

2 Timothy 1:3-5 (Pt. 3)  Thought/Prayer:  Help Fathering.  Topics:  2 at end.

“I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day; Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy; When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelled first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in you also.”  AKJ (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

When we speak of fathers, we speak of importance . . . importance in the life of a son or daughter; a family; a community; a nation; a world.  No matter how far we reach out to consider fatherhood, its importance is always there.  Going back to Noah of the Old Testament, we see how his importance in the lives of his family can be viewed:  if he had not answered God’s call to build the ark, where would his family have ended up?  And, if we are all descended from those first families “way back,” would you or I even be here?

Of course, God could have worked some other plan to save mankind at that time, but he chose to use a man who was a father and who had sons who became fathers.  And then it goes on from there.

But how do there get to be good fathers?  Yes, Noah was a good father; but even he did ungodly things such as getting drunk and causing other problems (Genesis 9).

All fathers sin.  Even a good father sins (for none of us is without it) (Romans 3:23).  But the point here may be that, yes, fathers are important.  In spite of sin, fatherhood is quite important.

That is why it is heartening to see Christian social service agencies targeting good fathering with classes to help men become better dads.  Many dads have grown up without fathers; but with education and a willingness to learn, the chain of fatherlessness may begin to be broken.

Let us in the pro-life ministry support all efforts to help men grow in their fatherhood skills.  If a boy didn’t have a role-model of fathering at home, let’s help him learn it somewhere else as a man.  Please, Lord, let us know of these initiatives for fathers and help us be supportive, through prayer, and perhaps physical or monetary support.  Guide us to help men who don’t know fathering . . . but would like to give the gift of good fathering to their families.

Topics:  Pray for more fatherhood education programs to begin around the world.
