2 Timothy 2:13 Thought/Prayer: His Character as Faithful. Topics: 2 at end.
“. . . if we are unfaithful, *he* abides faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” DARBY (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
How wonderful it is when God proves Himself faithful to us even when we prove just the opposite to Him, about ourselves. We promise to do certain things to increase our spirituality, things such as always put scripture reading and prayer first every day; things such as committing to really listen throughout our days, to hear the Still Small Voice; things such as denying ourselves “whatever,” whether an ice cream cone loaded with fat or thoughts in our minds that take us down wrong pathways. We truly think we will follow through as faithful; but so often we do not.
But for any who have searched God’s heart for help during times of need (physical, spiritual, emotional . . . ), we know that so often our best intentions become best avoidances. But we also know that even then, His faithfulness will come truly through. I Thess. 5:24 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” (KJV) His faithfulness allows no greater faithfulness. When we have him being faithful, we have the epitome of all faithfulness. He is Who He is, and with faithfulness part of his character, he cannot help but be faithful for us. No, he isn’t weak here when we say he cannot help something, but His character is so bound in righteousness, He cannot be any other way. So when we know He faithfully helps us, we know that our own non-faithfulness will still find Him faithful: Because of Who He Is.
This may seem to be talking in circles. But no. It is just an essence of Him in our lives. We’re not faithful. He is. Always.
How many times do we thank Him for this? How many times do we pray for others to experience His faithfulness? How many times in a week do we express His faithfulness to someone who has huge reasons to perhaps doubt Him? How often do we need to tell someone in struggles with LIFE issues about His faithfulness?
Lord, please help us to be faithful to You and to others who need to hear of your faithfulness. Help us to make a plan to tell others about you, when needed. Help us to follow through on the commitments we want to make to you. Help us, Faithful One Who Never Fails Us.
Topics: Pray to claim God’s faithfulness and then to put it into practice on our human level.
