§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Deuteronomy 32:11   Thought/Prayer:  No Eaglets in the Nest-nursery.  Topics:  2 at end.

“As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.”  KJV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

I had the privilege yesterday of observing and photographing a pair of bald eagles in our fair city.  They have come for four years to an island in a lake behind an apartment complex and shopping center.  There are plenty of trees.  They have constructed a huge nest – high up in a cottonwood tree.  The nest was put together three years ago, the first time eagles were known to have built one in the city.  It is so large, it cannot be mistaken for anything else.  It is by far the largest thing in all of the trees.

But, alas, it sits empty.  No eaglets have ever made that nest their nursery.  There apparently will be no fluttering over the young and teaching them to fly as the scripture describes.  It’s not that hopeful mama and hopeful papa aren’t trying.  They’ve been seen and photographed getting things done that way. . . but no little ones.  This year hopeful papa even flies away for 45 minutes or so and then returns bearing a large fish that is placed in the nest.  But even that behavior has stopped.  He’s been really hopeful.  But hopeful mama has never settled in there, no matter the treats.

Now there is no interest in the nest at all on the part of either of them.

When I saw the pair, they were perched close together on parallel branches.  They also couldn’t be missed.  They were the biggest black shapes in any tree, and because they were both there, they attracted immediate attention from anyone searching the island’s trees for an eagle.  The sky had turned stormy blue and gray about that time, and I was fortunate that a gentleman there offered me a peak through a very large telescope.  Those regal heads came right up to my eyes so clearly.  In fact, the man gave me his card, and I looked at three of his photos online.

Yes, it was disappointing to many regulars that there are no eggs to be hatching.  I just happened to be there when the pair was together, and the sky was different and interesting for photographing such wild beauty.

It made me think about couples who are so disappointed maybe time after time that no child is on the way to a nursery in a home.  I myself can only imagine, but this can be such an all-consuming grief, often time after time.

This just pointed out to me, in my thoughts, how important it is that we influence mothers and fathers with unexpected pregnancies to carry the babies to term and to encourage giving them for adoption if it is the best plan.  Through this pathway, many infertile couples can experience the benefits or parenthood.  I know of no way for this bald-eagle pair to bring up adopted kids, but if I did know how, I’d arrange that!

Lord, we thank you for the majesty of the bald eagle.  Thank you for all of Your creation.  Thank you for opportunities to witness special parts of it.  And help us to be sensitive to people who struggle with lack of success in bringing children into the world.  Lord, provide a child for someone right now, a child saved from being aborted, a child given for adoption.  Help some young mother-to-be to see the wisdom in carrying her baby and gifting the child into someone else’s life.

Topics:  Pray for all who struggle with childlessness, that God will grant children.
