Ephesians 5:15-17 Thought/Prayer: How Do We Best Use Our Time? Topics: 2 at end.
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

It may be easy to make the best use of the time (or time) while we’re at work or if we’re deeply involved in some big project, wherever it is. Perhaps we’re in more of a structured setting where it is easy to focus on tasks at hand. We may be able to go by the clock, so to speak
But what happens when weekends come around? First it’s Monday morning, and then it’s Friday afternoon and a weekend will soon establish itself.
So how hard is it to be wisely prepared when the structures of work are not there? Is it harder to be prepared when we’re not at work? What about relaxing!
Here we are told to make great use of the time we are given. We must be wise because there is so much evil in existence, and it certainly plays toward our usage of time. How can we still use our time well when lots of things distract us on days off? There is yard work; kid-ballgames; grandparents to see or take care of; trips to take. And recreation. Can we be true to time-usage with all of this going on in a relatively unstructured way, without a time clock or meeting schedule to drive us on?
No good answer here, but it must surely come down to the individual, and any individual’s use of time-not-at work. We all know how we ourselves are, what our temptations are to squander time, and what we really need to accomplish. It truly may be just staying as close to the Lord as we know how and asking Him to regulate our time with us for His good and the good of others. Sounds like a very vague answer here. But if we trust, we will know. It’s all this private, individual thing.
Lord, help us to ASK you to help us regulate our time and to make the best use of it. Sometimes we are totally at sea in this area, not even wanting to structure our unstructured time! You know this, Lord. Just help us want to be faithful here.
