Gen. 1:14,15 Thought/Prayer: God’s Aesthetics on Earth and in Life. Topics: 2 at end.

For signs and for seasons. The outdoor world is in bloom; spring is “doing its thing.” One day a young tree looks as though made only of sticks; the next day it’s puffy with pink or it’s bridal in white, as if by magic. Of course, the “magic” is brought on by such a great God as we have—a God who we know loves color and form and aesthetic impact. He loves natural great structures, such as giant oaks, and he loves fine-tuned intricate patterns such as on the veins of a tiny leaf. We know He loves them because He created them!
Because He created them: He loves the details of a newborn’s face and tiny toes; he even loves the tired expression on a new mother’s face as she gazes on her baby’s still-damp hair, from being birthed. He loves swaddling wraps (we probably call them blankets now) and the first little dress or romper a newborn will soon wear – He gave someone the ability to put together color and lines and aesthetic effect for those little outfits.
He also designs our lives just as He has plans for each newborn. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” If the God of design and beauty has plans for us, plans for all newborns, then how can we even entertain the thought of doing away with these little people? How can we tolerate it!??
We should not. Lord, help us, through answers to our prayers today, to not tolerate the killing of these innocents for whom You have plans. Lord, convict me and every Christian to follow Your will to go against this ugly thing; let your beautiful world and people shine your aesthetics on Earth and in life.
