§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Hebrews 11:1   Thought/Prayer:  Substance and Assurance.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  (KJV)  http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

Regarding faith:  This the King James version of this scripture.  Other translations put it differently, such as the American Standard Version, for example:  “Now faith is assurance of [things] hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.”

Substance, Assurance.  The substance of things hoped for; or, the assurance of things hoped for:  What is the difference in meaning?

Both of these can be meaningful.  And so, substance can be, among other definitions . . . something!  For one, there is the substance of material objects.

Assurance indicates that something is “sure.”  It is going to be there.  In some ways, assurance can be likened to a promise.  A promise-kept means that something will or will not happen.

So, without seeing it, we have either hope as real as a substantive thing that exists in the world; or, without seeing it, we have assurance that there are the things hoped for.  We’re sure about it.

These encouraging words just give us hope, no matter which one we find is the most meaningful to us.  And, since these apply to faith, then we know that through our faith we will have either the substance of something hoped for or the assurance of it.

Our hope is in Christ.  And He is always substantive in our lives; and He assures us that faith will prevail.  Those of us in ministry, helping families with life issues, always serve with faith.  We need the assurance, the substance that Christ honors our faith; and we see the rewards and accomplishments of it as we serve.

Lord, help us to know that faith is substance and it is assurance.  Help us to not forget this when helping any and all we serve, pro-life or otherwise.

Topics:  Pray to be assured of the substance of faith as is written in the scriptures.
