§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 38:19   Thought/Prayer:  Remember the Fathers.  Topics:  2 at end.

After King Hezekiah was granted a miracle of life from the Lord, he says, “The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.”  KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

Fathers.  Fathers involved with abortion.  Fathers can be involved with abortion in many ways.  But abortion has to always affect them.  I knew of a young man whose girlfriend became pregnant, and he was rejoicing because he was going to be a father.  But his elation was short-lived.  Before he knew it, the possibility of his fatherhood had been obliterated:  without telling him of her intentions, his girlfriend had the baby aborted.  He was greatly saddened.  In the perspective of the above scripture, he would never be able to make God’s truth known to that son or daughter.

What about a father-who-could-have-been such as him?  Do we even think that a person such as he would ever be saddened that a “baby who can just get in the way of my life” existed no longer?  Or do we typically think that a guy like him would not have a qualm about this, that his attitude would be 99% relief?  (I say 99% relief because surely there would have to be a small small part of him that felt guilt, if not remorse.  Maybe?)

Fathers associated with abortion are the most forgotten piece of the unexpected-pregnancy situation.  It’s so easy to assume that they are totally relieved that there is a “way out” (death to the baby), want no part of this “kid,” and are right back to their wanton habits of carelessly creating opportunities for more babies.  (We who are in pro-life work all probably know of young men who father several babies by more than one woman and take no responsibility for any of them.)

But we must pray for these fathers.  Many are very young.  Many have no good background at home.  We must not forget them.  We must not ignore their pain.  Granted, it’s difficult to know their pain because it may not ever be mentioned, and we probably will never know them.  But for those of us with concern, we must pray for them even though we don’t know their names or circumstances.  God does.

Lord, today we pray for all men everywhere, young or old, who struggle with an upcoming fatherhood of unexpected creation.  Remind us to pray for them, and, Lord, bless them and draw them to Yourself so that they will at some point in their lives be responsible fathers and will pass on Your truth to at least one next-generation.

Topics:  Pray for fathers involved in unexpected pregnancies, for their spiritual and moral growth.
