Isaiah 41:14-16 (Pt. 2) Thought/Prayer: Mow ‘Em Down. Topics: 2 at end.
“Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.” KJV http://www.bible.com (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
This scripture shows us how God can equip us to go against mountains of resistance. Here He shows Israel how He will provide them with tools for the challenge; they will thresh and beat down mountains, threshing with sharp teeth. God Himself will fashion this tool to be used for His purposes. What a word-picture: God creatively shaping an instrument of war for use by Israel. And yet it seems but a simple farm tool.
Was there such a tool in actuality? Maybe there was. Someone has probably researched it to find out. Or if there was not any such instrument to be used by human hands, then God would effectively use such a tool in His own way unseen by human hands. His hands would yield the crop of the enemy, taken down.
We should, however, consider this weapon as being real and available. As children of God, just as were the Children of Israel, we have access to all of God’s strategic armaments. Get ready to mow down!
But do we really believe these warrior pieces are ours? Or do we think, “Well, that’s nice – but I would have no idea of how to cut down and thresh the weeds in my world. All of that stuff is only meant for real soldiers, not novices such as I.” But stop there. God is speaking to all the men of Israel, apparently not just to soldiers. We may consider ourselves to be in the group.
So, with our scythes or sickles in hand, let’s march in sync-step to cross enemy fields and cut, cut, cut. Cut off anti-life attitudes and actions. Chop up obstacles to LIFE. See ourselves as victorious in the Lord, for He wants to be victorious in us.
