§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Isaiah 51:16 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  The Great and the Tender.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And I have put my words in your mouth
and covered you in the shadow of my hand,
establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth,
and saying to Zion, ‘You are my people.’” (ESV)  “Scripture quotations are from the Holy Bible, English Standard Version, copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved.” (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

God speaks of covering us with the shadow of His hand along with comments about establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the Earth.  This theme comes through in the Bible.  God will couple two seeming opposites:  statements of grandeur (establishing heavens, laying the Earth’s foundation – a foundation He only understands completely since we humans see no bricks and mortar holding up our planet); and words so closely personal every Christian takes them to heart.  We have to just say, “That’s raging”!  “That’s beautiful.”  We savor these descriptions of wonder, in wonder.

Perhaps this simply indicates one thing:  Our mighty, powerful, omnipotent God takes care to reach down with His great hand, to tenderly cover with his hand those who are His.  Here we see the almighty power of the Almighty; here we see his caring compassion.  He creates our planet, out of nothing.  He cools from the midday heat.  He protects.

How does this apply to pro-life issues?  It’s that we know that He cares for the preborn.  As far as mankind is concerned, the preborn are those of least power or influence; they are the most vulnerable.  But the God who put the heavens in place will cover them with His love from the moment of fertilization.  He knew each babe in the womb before they were fertilized.  He knows this because he is the God of omnipotence:  He knows it all, everything that ever has been and ever will be.  “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”  (Rev. 1:8) (ESV)

God, we know you want to shelter the preborn with your kind hand.  We ask that you let Yourself be known to families with problem pregnancies so that they will be aware of your kindnesses as well as your omnipotency.  Please, we ask, convict hearts considering abortion.  Let your tenderness, as well as your power, be known.  Let at least someone in each stressed-out family be pulled in Your direction, to seek to know You better, and thus help resolve the crisis pregnancy into Your will.  And thank You for the lives that will be saved and birthed because of this.

Thank you.

Topics:  Pray that the Holy Spirit will be able to penetrate walls of resistance in the lives of those considering abortion or euthanasia, to call these people to Himself.
