Job 11:18 Thought/Prayer: Hope was Temporarily Unavailable. Topics: 2 at end.
”And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.”
“Hope: Temporarily Out of Stock.” First, the sale-tag said 40% off – but then Hope was temporarily out of stock. Oh, . . . What?? No more Hope?! There was nothing on the little hooks for the Hope items.
Of course, I’m referring to a sign I noted at a moving sale for my local drugstore. The little key rings or bobbles were on clearance, but the ones that said “Hope”were sold out.
How often do we humans think that Hope has either been sold out, or has sold itself out on us? Sometimes our hope in our future may seem to have lost some percentage points – maybe, it seems, more than 40 or 50%. Maybe our hope in Christ seems to have vacated, leaving only an empty hook instead of His face as we envision it. Perhaps hope seems temporarily gone, but we may hope to “hope again.”
In many places we read that hope is one of the greatest forces in life. Sometimes those undergoing the ravages of long-term incarceration in horrible places have had a greater chance of survival if there was a hope within that they could accomplish something in the future, picturing release. The Bible tells us that hope is one of the three most important essences in life, along with Faith and Love.
God’s hope for us, and our hope in Him, never goes on sale, never vacates a display rack, never leaves even for a temporary nanosecond (a billioneth of one!). Whatever the circumstances, whether we can see His face or not, our hope in Him is there. Always there.
Pray today that pro-lifers will always be able to trust in God in whom we hope, for He gives us our hope in Him and will work it to the building of His plans for life on earth.
