§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

John 15:13-17 Thought/Prayer:  Such a Friend, Again.  Topics:  2 at end

“Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. From now on I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you. You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that you love one another.”  (AKJV)  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com

Let us once more consider this great old hymn in the light of those needing Jesus as their Friend, those in LIFE angst.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!

This old hymn speaks to the heart of every Christian who has ever sung it or just read the lyrics.  This is just the first verse, but the lyrics need say no more when we consider the simplicity of their message.

Jesus is our Friend.  What a Friend!
He bears our sins.  No other friend can do this for us, only Jesus.
He also bears our griefs.  He can understand our griefs because when He came to Earth, he experienced everything that we do.

Then we are told that we can carry everything to Him in prayer . . . and that this is a privilege . . . What a privilege!  Like no other.

The lyrics then take us to what we might miss out on if we do not carry “Ev’rything to God in prayer.“ We would forfeit peace.  And we would experience pain.  When we do not take everything to God through our prayers, we bear pain needlessly.

Those we care about, those in grievous situations concerning LIFE decisions, need our prayers.  Is it possible that, if we do not take everything to God in prayer (including prayers for His uplifting of others), that others will then carry more pain and lack peace?  Well, that might be difficult to determine.

But because we do know that Jesus has called us His friends then, literally, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”  And He wants to be able to call those who are in LIFE crises, as His friends.  Lord, give us the conviction to pray for and to reach out to those struggling over death vs. life for those they love.  Help them to come to know You as their Friend.  What a Friend.  Such a Friend.

Topics:  Pray for those who are in crises over someone needing to make decisions about living or dying.  Pray that they know Jesus as their friend
