It was at a wedding that Jesus performed his first miracle. What a blessing to the institution of marriage. He called attention to marriage and highlighted it by showing his powers as God in a way that would both be appreciated greatly and astonishing. No guest at any wedding would anticipate large jars of water would instantly be made into wine – and the best wine at the party!
Out of marriage come children. That is the plan. As far as any specific child goes, his or her worth is not dependent on the way in which conception took place. We are all loved as His children. But God did plan for children to be born out of the union of a man and a woman in MARRIAGE.
Prayers on our part can help bring about more marriages and fewer births out of wedlock, and we should always pray for this. Children born into families who love them have a much greater chance of being successful in the tasks of life. There is just greater stability of life style.
Lord, help us to pray for families and for babies being brought into the world, that many, many more will be born into families and brought up with continuity and steadfastness. Help us celebrate weddings, marriage and ultimately offspring, just as Jesus did miraculously.
