§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

John 8:2-11   Thought/Prayer:  Sand and Lines.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
“Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?  This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.  And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” KJV http://www.bible.com  (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

Much has been written about this occurrence with all of us wondering just what it was that our Lord “said” in the dirt that day.  We’ll know when we get to Heaven.

Today we have the saying, to “ . . . draw a line in the sand,” or here, on the ground.  We mean this action to say that this is where we get to and . . . stop.  The line is as far as we will go on something.  It’s the end.  Go no farther.

Do we ever need to do this as Christians who are standing for different causes in the world?  Do we need to do this when we are defending created LIFE on Earth?  Yes we do.  We often are saying, “This is what I can accept:  Beyond this I cannot go.  Each individual must make up his or her mind as to the limits set in life.”

Even among active pro-lifers, though, there are different lines in the sand.  Some of us do not go to abortion mills to pray.  Some of us feel called especially to go to abortion mills to pray.  And, of those who do this, some go further and relish the opportunity to witness to the mothers who approach the sidewalk into the place.  Others of us feel called to only pray.

Some of us are happiest when we are organizing prayer groups for LIFE.  Others of us feel fulfilled when we organize a march in a city or town to show group support for going against abortion or euthanasia.  Some of us excel when it comes to holding signs at the Life Chain on a Sunday in October.

Others of us serve on Respect Life teams or pro-life committees in churches.

Yes, we do draw lines in the sand.  It would do no good to try to argue someone into going to an abortion clinic and hold up signs.  If our fellow brothers and sisters are not comfortable with that, and yet are pro-life, let them follow the Lord’s leading in their lives.  Do we want a fellow Christian trying to arm wrestle us into their way of serving for LIFE?  Not really.

And yet, as pro-lifers, we really have all drawn a line for the world to see.  We draw the line at anything that goes against the value of created LIFE.  And that is set.  It stays constant, no matter the sand on which we find ourselves.  There is no going beyond that boundary line.  There is no moving it backwards, also.  It is there, it is set, and so are we, feet firmly planted not in sand, but in the Rock who is Jesus.

Lord, help us to hold true to the lines we draw in Your service.  In our pro-life witness, help us to firmly hold to the line of LIFE.  Sometimes it is easy to think we are on the wrong beach with our life’s sands; but if we seek You, we are exactly where You want us, and the lines we draw
are just where you direct us.

Help us to be faithful to keep them right there no matter how others may serve You.

Topics:  Ask the Lord to help you know where to draw your lines in life and ask Him to help you keep them openly seen and honored.
