Luke 2:4,5 Thought/Prayer: Taxes: And A Certain Time for Birth. Topics: 2 at end.

Tax Day is upon us. And who wants it? Know anyone who just can’t wait to pay taxes to the government, who tries to increase the amount owed every year? Hardly. But, taxes are, downright necessary.
Interestingly, it was a “taxing situation” that got Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem right at the time Jesus was to be born – at the right time! This was a fulfillment of prophecy – John 7:42—“Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” KJV
Bethlehem was not a sprawling metropolis; but its importance to Israel, and eventually to Earth, was unlimited: Matthew 2:6—“And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.” KJV
Maybe as we scramble to get our taxes figured and submitted, in the back of our minds could be the little thought that “tax day” was an important time in the life of the Savior. Lord, help us to be just a bit more positive about forking over our money. Just as Jesus was brought to Bethlehem at the appointed time, so is each baby born at just the right time for them. Lord, help us consider this also.
