§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Luke 9:48 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  In His Name.

“And said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in my name receives me: and whoever shall receive me receives him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.”  AKJV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)

What does Jesus mean when, after He had taken a little child beside himself, he spoke of the qualities of belief?  He says that whoever “receives” the child receives Him, our Lord.  But there is more than that.  It is “receives this child in my name.”  But how do we do that!?

There have probably been hundreds of sermons based on this passage.  And Christians probably understand, at least in part, what it means to receive a child in Christ’s name.  It could mean that because of faith in Christ, children are important, and we are kind toward them because we know Jesus loved children, we love Jesus, and so we love children.  Of course, He loved them perfectly.  Our love has flaws . . . but we try hard to correct anything wrong that might have gone a child’s direction.  We apologize when we tell them something wrong, for example.  This is a way of showing them respect.  We listen to them without ridicule.  We encourage them.

Can’t we just see the Lord Jesus smiling as He listens to a little boy’s story that is “mostly” true with only a bit of imagination interwoven?  Can’t we just see Him laughing heartily when a kid tries to do a handstand to show off a bit for Jesus the Friend, with only partial success but comes up grinning?

Lord, help us to always appreciate and respect the children You have put in our lives, just as Jesus made a point to do.  They need encouragement.  It’s a difficult world out there, as many of them discover way too early in their lives.  Help us to pray for the unborn as well as the children already on Earth.  They deserve the respect accorded them to have life and not have theirs ending before it ever even begins.

Topics:  Pray to always respect children, no matter how unlovable they may seem at any given minute.
