§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Matthew 21:12-17 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Kids Probably Ran to Him.  Topics:  2 at end.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said to them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased, And said to him, Hear you what these say? And Jesus said to them, Yes; have you never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings you have perfected praise? And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.”  AKJV (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

After Jesus had cleansed the temple in Jerusalem, getting rid of the people who made a monetary profit from selling animals for sacrifices, he left there and went to Bethany and lodged there.  Some translations say that he spent the night there.  In today’s language, kids say they have a sleep-over when they spend the night at a friend’s house.

Here we are not told where Jesus slept overnight.  But we can make an educated guess:  probably at the home of sisters Mary and Martha, and their brother Lazarus.  They lived in Bethany.  And we know from other Biblical accounts that these three individuals were quite the special friends of Jesus.  He would visit there and enjoy meals and friendship and hospitable love.  So perhaps He went to this inviting home after He left the temple.

We can only imagine what it would have been like to be such special friends of the Lord Jesus.  We can only surmise what Mary and Martha and Lazarus were like.  But they must have been special in ways with which Jesus could identify, ways perhaps of a heart’s love and a love of the things Jesus loved . . . people, a warm home; perhaps having special insights into life itself that matched His interest in life and also things spiritual.  We know that Mary sat at His feet to soak up all He had to say.

There is no mention of children associated with these friends.  But could we perhaps think that children would find Jesus wherever he went?  We don’t know in this instance, but wouldn’t it be neat to imagine kids seeing Him walking into town and rejoicing that they could see him or be with him for a time?  He must have had personal earthly charisma beyond our understanding of Him now.  Don’t we wish we could have been a little boy or a little girl rushing to grab him around the legs in a hug, impeding his progress?  He wanted them to come to Him, and when he had the time, we can most likely be assured that whatever children were there, were receiving the treat of his attention.  He probably called a lot of them by name!  (Of course, He knew all of their names without being told.)

It’s just a beautiful thing to know of Your love for children, Lord.  And, Lord, help us to stand for LIFE so greatly that many many children who would have lost their lives before birth will grow to full-term and birth.  If there is some way, Lord, that we can share Your love for children as seen through Jesus’ appreciation of them, then let us know it.

Topics:  Pray for Jesus’ love for children to come through in our personalities as we share about Him with those who may terminate their baby(ies)’ lives before they have a chance to know anyone on Earth at all.
