§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Philippians 4:12-14 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  Moving Targets.  Topics:  2 at end.

“Press on Toward the Goal
I do not say that I have already won the race or have already reached perfection. But I am pressing on, striving to lay hold of the prize for which also Christ has laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not imagine that I have yet laid hold of it. But this one thing I do—forgetting everything which is past and stretching forward to what lies in front of me, with my eyes fixed on the goal I push on to secure the prize of God’s heavenward call in Christ Jesus.”  WEY (Read these scriptures and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

In tennis, there obviously is no set goalpost or net into which the players lob the ball.  No, in this sport, the target is never stationary.  It moves all over . . . the target being a tennis ball coming at you, to hit; or the target is the other player’s racket . . . but in reverse; it’s sort of a target of “missing” the ball by the opponent.  That’s the goal of the server from the first – make the opponent miss the target you send over the net (the tennis ball).

Sometimes in life we seem to have moving targets.  We think we want to do something here, or there, or somewhere, but nothing seems to take shape.  Maybe we take courses in college as a means to a goal – say to become a nurse or a teacher.  But the program gets changed; it’s no longer what we want; or we find that field of work rather boring or too technical, etc.  So we look to set another goal.

When we work in pro-LIFE endeavors (or in any Christian service ministry), we may find the same.  We are interested in praying at a certain time and place, but the structure of things changes, and this plan falls down.  Or we think we would like to counsel at a pregnancy crisis center, but the emotionalism of it doesn’t seem good:  at home, we never can leave the thoughts of it all.

But God has one goal for us all:  To serve Him in the ways He has to offer us – which could include several possibilities.  We just trust Him, prayerfully, and a new goal comes into focus.  We go toward that goal until something changes it and we’re led into something new.

Lord, thank You for giving us the ability to plan and to serve You through those plans.  Help us when our targets, or goals, seem to just float around with no specific structure.  Help us, in LIFE ministries, to just be willing to go and do toward any goal with which we are presented.

Topics:  Pray for God’s goals to become clear for pro-LIFE work in all willing hearts.
