Psalm 34:1-4 (Pt . 2) Thought/Prayer: Boast, Boast Away. Topics: 2 at end.
“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” KJV http://www.bible.com (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com).
In one sentence here, we see the words “boast” and “humble.” These two terms seem to be in opposition to each other. Who likes people who boast, who brag about their achievements and victories, giving themselves accolades and acclaim? Well, no one—and perhaps especially the humble.
But wait – this boasting is of the soul and is of the LORD. Now that’s the kind of boasting totally approved by God. When we boast of Him, we are praising, generating good boasts right to Him.
But here it says that the “humble” shall hear praises and be glad. Good to know! But who are the humble!? This word could apply to a lot of people, but perhaps it could mean those who see themselves as loving the Lord and needing Him in order to have any victory or achievement. Perhaps when we boast of Him, we are letting the humble know that we, too, cannot take credit for anything – only Him.
In the pro-life stance, the ones who accomplish the most are probably those who realize their own limitations and raise their souls to God in praise. Lord, help us do this is after we have sought Your soul for good, and have let You have Your way, thus bringing about certified boasting in You. This is boasting that has Your own seal of approval.
Topics: Pray to boast in the Lord as He works within us, thus becoming a witness to the humble and many others. Help us to BE the humble ourselves.
