Psalm 5:3 (Pt. 2) Thought/Prayer: 7 Minutes of a Day. Topics: 2 at end.
“My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer to you, and will look up.†(AKJV) Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.
Well, maybe you or I spent time with the Lord first thing this morning. Or not. Sometimes it’s very hard to do. Getting kids out the door and ourselves off to work demands a lot of time and energy, or we may not feel the best early in the day. We may want to, and try to, lift our voices to God in the morning, but life is demanding. However, just a little lifting of our voices may be helpful.
If early morning is not conducive to prayer or praise of any length, just acknowledging God’s presence over our days may help set the tone. As we are just waking up and the tasks for the day seem set upon us, just a few words from our hearts, spoken or not, may bring our thoughts to God and His being with us. Perhaps before we ever leave our beds, just a bit of thanks for our day may help set the tone for it.
There are prayer helps, such as one from the Navigators, 7 Minutes With God. (Information from this booklet may be shared according to navigators.com, as long as wording is not changed or a charge required.)
This free booklet includes this plan:
½ minute: Preparing Your Heart
4 Minutes: Listening to God (Scripture Reading)
2 ½ minutes: Talking to God (Prayer)
It is a lovely and concise plan that takes very little time.
But even seven minutes may seem a lot to take from a busy morning. But getting up 7 minutes early may not seem too big a task. If we try it and feel more in tune with the Lord that day, maybe it is a good investment of a small bit of time from our day. Let’s see. 24 hours equals 1440 minutes so 7 minutes equals 1/205ths of our day, which is .49%. If we estimate 17 hours of awake time (1020 minutes), 7 minutes is 1/145ths or .69% of our day. Not very much!
Of course, there are more extended prayer times to be had, and these may come later in the day. Or we may be praying all through the day, including prayers for LIFE issues in the world and for people we know. Starting the beginning of the day lifting our voices to God is just one part of our day. Lord, use our efforts in this regard to further Your kingdom and to bless our days as we begin them, if possible, by lifting our voices to You.
Topics: Pray to be able to find at least some time each morning to lift up your voice to God.
