Psalm 73:26 (Pt. 2) Thought/Prayer: God, My Portion. Topics: 2 at end.
“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.”
I have always looked forward to portions – at the dinner table! To me, a portion of food is what I’m allowed, and hopefully it’s the right size for me – and hopefully it’s delicious! As a kid, it was beautiful to see my mother scoop portions out from a fruit cobbler or from a big bowl of actually–peeled, real mashed potatoes.
A portion is someone’s part of something, his or her share. While remembering portioned-out servings from childhood dinners or celebrations – perhaps my portion of the homemade angel food cake – the best Portion of all is none other than God.
Amazing that it’s said this way in scripture! He’s my (and your) portion! And he is always the right size (in power, grandiose); his “flavoring” is the special recipe for me (and you) as we learn His personality; and He provides us with everything delicious to our lives.
God is my portion. This is just awesome. Pray today that pro-lifers will realize this in some special way today.
