§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Psalm 77:11 (Pt. 4)  Thought/Prayer:  Backwards?  Topics:  2 at end.

“I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.”  WEB   (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

Why look backward?  Why remember?  Why not look forward?  Why not forecast instead?

There is a lot in the scriptures about remembering God and His mightiness and His mighty works.  When we think about it, the Bible is a book or remembering in many ways.  It’s full of history, in the old Testament presenting the history of not only the Jewish people but also including parts of the histories of the peoples and nations surrounding the life of the Jews.  We learn about the ways of life “back then” in the Old Testament and also the way people lived in the New Testament of Jesus’ time and after.

But isn’t this just a bit too much looking backwards?  It could be, I suppose, if that is all the Bible were about.  It would just be a history book on the shelf along with other histories of humans on planet Earth.  (But even then, the history that is in it is to present the God who writes history and to extol Him.)

There is obviously a greater purpose in looking back at the history of God’s dealing with the human race.  And we’re supposed to learn from history, right?  (Hmmmm.  Do we?)  (Do we learn from the history in the Bible? Just think how many times the Children of Israel were blessed by the Lord after He had forgiven them much . . . and then they returned to their old ways.  It’s still the same today; we don’t seem to learn.)

But actually, when it comes to the Bible, we can learn from its history if we try.  We can focus on God and His power and His workings in the universe.  And this is the best focus of history possible.  We see how much He loves us and gave his all for us in His Son Jesus Christ.  This is the biggest and largest scope of the Bible possible; to see God’s love over all time.  It is from this looking backward that we can learn how to walk forward. . . and into the future .

Lord, help us to remember Your history as shown in the Bible; and help us to appreciate it and to learn from it for our lives, present and future.  Let us be able to pass on to others the greatness of Your history in Your Book the Bible; and help us to help them make LIFE decisions in line with all of this.

Topics:  Pray for increased appreciation of God as we remember Him and to pass it on to others for their benefit.
