Christ Divides Men

You may wonder why I am posting such a controversial statement such as “Christ Divides Men” on the Pro-Life Unity site.  When it comes to the issue of life, men and women, brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers will be divided.  It is necessary for us to understand this division, which demands that we take a strong stance for life and not allow the culture of death to overcome us.  At Pro-Life Unity, we are seeking not only for people to learn and understand the issue of life, we are also calling for those who have common beliefs to unite in our common cause, to defend the defenseless and put an end to abortion, even if we disagree on some of the basics / methods.

Did Christ come to unite the world?  (Luke 12:51) tells us something a little different than what so many people have come to believe.

——————

(Luke 12:51

49 “I 1have come to cast fire upon the earth; and show I wish it were already kindled!

  50 “But I have a a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

  51 “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division;

  52 for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.

  53 “They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

  54 And He was also saying to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out.

  55 “And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a hot day,’ and it turns out that way.

  56 “You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but 1why do you not analyze this present time?

  57 “And why do you not even on your own initiative judge what is right? “

———————-

Why do we not “judge what is right” and act on it?  It would be one thing for us to disagree on food, color or clothes, prompting us to keep our mouths closed because it is not a big issue.  It is something completely different for people to keep quiet about abortion because they are apathetic or afraid of controversy.

Will we lose our jobs, friends or cause division with our families by speaking out to end abortion?  Perhaps, but division to save lives is more important than allowing the unborn to be killed without our defense and is unfair to those with whom we disagree.  Why?  Because maybe people need us to take a stand so that they understand why this stand needs to be taken.  Maybe they will change sides.  Regardless of whether they do or not, we must take a stand for life, or in the end, we will certainly be considered “lukewarm” by our Lord, Jesus Christ.  We may not want to judge and demand an end to abortion, but I guarantee we will be judged when we meet our Maker.
