Pro-Life Easter Triduum Reflection
As Christians all over the world begin the celebration of the Easter Triduum (sundown on Holy Thursday till sundown on Easter Sunday), we enter into an even deeper period of reflection and prayerfulness. From tonight, when we remember the Last Supper, until Jesus is laid in the tomb on Holy Saturday, we share in His suffering and death in a special way. We remember the whole reason Jesus came to earth: to suffer and die for each of us so that we may be saved. We cannot forget that He came to save sinners. This includes abortionists and mothers who have chosen death for their children. We need to offer up these people in prayer especially during these holy days.
I remember the first time I ever prayed in front of an abortion clinic was my first Good Friday in college. My roommate and I joined with a local parish in a Way of the Cross procession in the streets of Baltimore, which concluded with prayers in front of a Planned Parenthood in a run-down neighborhood. Things like this will be happening all over the country tomorrow on Good Friday. Please participate in these if you are able. If you cannot, remember the least among us. Remember the abortionists. And most of all, remember why this weekend is so important. We are assured of the victory over abortion because of the Resurrection. Jesus is the Light of the world, and we must reflect that light by never ceasing to spread the Truth.
