Joshua 23:10,11 (Pt.2) Thought/Prayer: Carefully Fought.Topics: 2 at end.
“One of you shall chase a thousand men of the enemies: because the Lord your God himself will fight for you, as he hath promised. This only take care of with all diligence, that you love the Lord your God.†(DRB) (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com)
In this scripture, the Israelites were reminded by Joshua of how God had fought for them during their coming into the Promised Land. And then, Joshua pairs this military support with loving the God who did the battle. It might be that there is a parallel theme here: God carefully battled. The Israelites are to carefully love.
We know some of the battles our Lord fights for us in our lives. (But we do not know all of the fighting done in the heavenly realms, for our protection and development [Ephesians 6:12]. These battles may be myriad on God’s part.) But when we do see Him battle something in our lives, how grateful we are!
Of course any battle fought by our Lord is going to be meticulously and carefully fought. In our own lives, it is because He knows us so well (He, our Maker) that He can carefully fight for us. He knows the weakest points in our character and turns the battle toward those, standing firm against the forces of wickedness that would so terribly take us down. But we need not fear. The battling of our Lord for us is something He chooses to do. Carefully. And with carefully planned results in our lives. And then we must give love back to Him.
Lord, help us to love you attentively, alertly. Help us to love others the same way as we share with some about the battles You have won for us. Help us tell them that You will battle for them also, for LIFE issues or many others in life.
