§ What is Pro-Life Unity?

To achieve Pro-Life Unity we will establish standards that we all agree upon, and efforts that we all regularly participate in. By working together we can challenge the culture of death and the apathy which is pervasive in our society.

Zechariah 4:1 – 7 (Pt. 2)  Thought/Prayer:  He Provides for the Work.  Topics:  2 at end.

“And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep. And said to me, What see you? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are on the top thereof: And two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other on the left side thereof.

So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?  Then the angel that talked with me answered and said to me, Know you not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, said the LORD of hosts. Who are you, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace to it.”  AKJV (Read this scripture and more at http://prayerpivot.com.)

How could the mention of a headstone here fit in with overcoming a mountain of difficulty to rebuild the Jerusalem Temple?  Could it mean that the mountain, as knocked flat, then receives a headstone (a tombstone) to mark its demise . . . its flattening?  Maybe the meaning could be construed in this way.  But we don’t want to read something into the scriptures that isn’t there.

But, needless to say, rebuilding the Temple was a mountain:  of responsibility; of work; of planning to get it just right; a mountain of challenge!  How did such beautiful, graceful-yet-imposing buildings ever get built in the days of more limited methods of construction?  How did the gold get laid down so perfectly on ornamentation?  How did the height ever be reached?  Perhaps by a mountain of pure overcoming!

Well, we are told at least one name, a man who crafted such beauty to the Lord’s name: Huram-Abi in II Chronicles 2, a skilled craftsman called to the work on the Temple at the request of Hiram, King of Tyre.  His artistic skills seem to be endless, according to the listing in II Chronicles 2.

So we see that God provided what and whom was needed to tackle the gigantic challenge of rebuilding the Temple.  And when God provides and encourages, mountains go flat.  And then sometimes there is a “headstone” to remind us of all that happened.

Lord, thank you for providing those people and things needed for Your work.  We rejoice about those flat-as-a-pancake mountains.  And help us to encourage others to believe in Your provision for them.  Help newly surprised parents to realize this and to trust you to flatten their mountains in their families.

Topics:  Pray for wisdom on how to flatten the mountains in our lives.  God’s way.
